I did the Helicopter Glacier trek and this is definitely something everyone needs to add to their bucket list! We took a chopper up and landed on the top of Mendenhall Glacier. Christina is an amazing pilot and flew this chopper flawlessly while giving commentary on our way up to the glacier. The hike on glacier lasted about 2 hours where you see some landscapes you wouldn't think even existed on earth. Beautiful glacier pools, constant changing streams, and enormous ice walls will blow your mind! After the hike, we took the chopper back down to Juneau Airport.

WOW! Pure Awesomeness! NorthStar Helicopters is first class, the fly out was amazing, great guides, friendly, helpful, never felt pushed or rushed. Great help getting us acclimated to the gear and ice. They setup two climbing stations to get some ice action on a nice incline as well as a good wall. Just what I was looking for and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. WOW, best excursion while in Juneau, I can’t wait to come back and do this adventure again.

I have never given a one star review before… this company actually deserves zero stars. As many have written, a helicopter tour to a glacier was the reason we booked our Alaska Cruise. We were fully aware that it could be canceled due to weather, and this review has nothing to do with cancelation decision, as safety should always be first. We (husband and my two 8 year olds) checked in and gave the Northstar rep our weights and shoe sizes. We were told to wait by the fence until it was time to leave. As we were waiting, a different Northstar rep walked by and I overheard on his radio “all tours are canceled”. He replied okay and walked over to the other reps. I left my family at the fence meeting point and walked over and stood by them, assuming they would tell me the tour was canceled. The rep told the others and they began talking about food. At that point, I assumed the radio must have been talking about some other tours. I stood by them for 17 minutes and no further communication about canceling tours was heard. 18 minutes after the initial radio communication (with no additional radio reports), a rep called my family over and told us the tours were canceled. They had no idea I had been standing there the whole time. With crying twins, we walked over to the very long excursion line and by the time we got to the front, all tours were sold out. I was later told by fellow passengers that had booked with Temco, that they had been told right when they walked off ship and were able to book a different tour offered by NCL. I do not blame NCL for this, as they also were not informed until we were, to my knowledge. We ended up taking an Uber to the glacier and the park ranger had to help us find a way back (no Ubers, cabs or buses were available). Northstar, you ruined our time in Juneau. Have the decency to tell customers immediately when their trip is canceled.

Highly recommend! We did the 2 hour glacier trek. Cannot say enough about this great company. The booking process was excellent (we had to reschedule multiple times due to cancellation of our cruises) and they were very accomodating. Everything ran right on time. They provide all the gear you need . . . pants, jackets, boots, crampons, helmets, even gloves. The helicopter ride up to the glacier is amazing along with the info provided by the pilot. The guides for the trek were extremely helpful and informative. The trek itself is beautiful and more challenging than I anticipated . . . up and down hills, through creeks, next to crevaces and waterfalls, etc. But the guides are great at teaching everyone how to safely navigate the trek and helping you all along the way, if needed. Even the van drivers who take you to and from the airport were great, providing lots of great info. I would definitely book again with Northstar again for future adventures in Alaska!

One of the most amazing excursions we’ve ever experienced. Helicopter ride up to the dog sleds with experienced pilots who give a great tour from the sky followed by dog sledding. This is a MUST tour if your in Juneau. This tour was by far the best time on our Alaskan cruise!

Highly recommend NorthStar Trekking, very friendly, professional and organized where safety comes first! We booked a helicopter and glacier trek, and while all other tours were cancelld that morning the weather started to seem good, so we had the okay to get ready/dressed and take off. As soon as we were about to land on the glacier, clouds started to come in so the pilot decided not to land (as w could have gotten stuck on the glacier, and good thing he made this decision because it did get bad).
We all got a full refund even though we got a helicopter ride, which was very nice of them. Can't control the rain, clouds or weather, and as dissapointed as we were, it's nice to know that safety comes first and not just about profit for them.
We just know how amazing this tour would have been if we got to do the full trek, hopefully one day!

Booked our dog sledding excursion via Disney Cruise line. Amazing experience riding in a helicopter to a glacier where they have the dog camp.

Quick safety briefing and gearing up (they provided snow boot covers for shoes) and we were off. Helicopters seated five guests, so we shared with another party.

Riding in a helicopter over the rainforest and seeing the terrain turn into huge glacial ice fields was spectacular. About a 15 min ride up to the glacier.

When we arrived we met our musher, who hooked up the dogs to the sled, and then we did a big loop through the snow. We stopped a few times for pictures, to pet the dogs, and to take turns driving the sled. Even our 9-year-old got to drive!

Booked Helicopter and dog sledding thru NorthStar on a glacier to ensure snow April 2023 for trip Aug. Two days prior, they cancelled trip due to lack of snow. Full refund but the only company that has dog camp on Mendenhall Glacier while others land other glaciers Had to book thru cruise so cost $200 more but worth it last minute. Just book w/Temsco Helicopters and save money and stress!

This was my first helicopter ride and I couldn't have been happier with the experience. The pilot took a longer route around mountains, showing us incredible views of glaciers from above as well as some beautiful streams on our way there. Our guide Bill taught us all the necessary techniques for going on an adventure like this before we went out to explore two different glacier rivers together! It felt adventurous yet safe being guided by him at every step of the hike- he also shared so much knowledge about nature that it made me love exploring even more than ever before. This truly is a tour worth taking everyone should sign up for because you won't regret seeing such beauty in person rather than just watching photos online or tv shows!

I had given my husband the Glacier Trek excursion as a Christmas gift for the cruise we were supposed to go on in 2020. That didn't happen so we rescheduled again for this year. We didn't get to Juneau on a cruise ship, but we were able to still go on this excursion and it was worth the wait!
We were picked up at the location of our choice and brought to their headquarters at the Juneau airport. When we arrived, our supplies were all set out, waiting for us. We filled out the required paperwork, donned our glacier gear, listened to the safety briefing, and walked out to our ride to the glacier.
We loaded into the helicopter and took off for the Mendenhall glacier. The flight to the glacier was AMAZING and way too short. Our pilot explained about the areas we were flying over and answered any questions that anyone had. When he landed on the glacier, you could hardly tell that we were on the ground.
Once on the glacier, we were outfitted with more glacier gear and off we went! We were shown how to walk and climb and descend a hill with the crampons on. Our guides made sure we were all fine before we started exploring. The view was unbelievable, the weather was perfect, and since there were few tourists in Juneau, we were the only group in the area. No other helicopters or planes flying around. We hiked around for a couple hours, climbing hills, descending a high area using snow steps, and collecting water we could drink.
Our guides were personable and friendly and we felt very much at ease on our excursion. We were probably the oldest people on the trip, there were four young people probably in their 20's, but we had no problem keeping up.
This was an amazing experience, a true bucket list item.
