Captain Steve was a great guide! After many days of researching all of the possible tours, we chose Captain Steve. Captain Steve offers small group experience that provides an individual touch. When we booked our tour, we were the only 2 people, he assured us that he wouldn't cancel on us even if we were the only 2. Captain Steve was quick to communicate via phone, text and email. He made the process of booking a tour simple, easy and personalized to our needs. And the trip, I don't know where to begin. Captain Steve was educational about the whales, sea lions, other wild life and area we were cruising through. Our boat was small, so we could move quickly and respectfully into the areas where the whales were. And the whales showed up and showed themselves in magnificent ways. By the end of our 3 hours we had seen 8 individual whales. Each whale encounter was amazing and left us in awe. We can't possibly recommend this company for your tour enough. We can't wait to come back and travel with Captain Steve again. P.S. we asked for lunch recommendations after our tour. Not only did he make recommendation, he called the restaurant to make sure they were open for us. Talk about above and beyond

We were on a family cruise with 10 of us. We had two separate boats which were clean with an enclosed cabin area and a head (there is a bathroom at the marina). Snacks were provided. The trip from the docks to the marina was not too long and we saw Bald Eagles standing in a field and we were able to see Mendenhall Glacier, as well.
We had an amazing experience! Not only did we see numerous Humpbacks but we also saw Orcas, as well!
Since we had a large party and separate boats we, obviously, had two separate Captains and both were amazing especially since we had younger children with 1000 questions to ask.
Our particular Captain helps out with large groups and was extremely knowledgeable and great with my children. He made our trip extra special and hearing the excitement in his voice when we saw the Orcas let us know how truly lucky we were to have encountered them.
This is a family run business and deserving of your booking. Some excursions lack in that personal touch but not these folks. We were treated like family and taken care of from beginning to end.
Tip: They had nice binoculars onboard for us to use. We had purchased some that stayed in our bags.

Don't spend your money on a crowded boat struggling to get a whale picture! Captain Steve and his team provide an intimate whale watching experience at a fair price. My wife and I took their whale watching tour off our NCL cruise to Alaska. From the communication on a pick-up point to the drop off (and wonderful restaurant recommendation afterward), the entire trip was a pleasure.
It is great to see a team that is excited to see the whales and to share their knowledge as their guest are to have that experience.
This is a don't miss if you find yourself in Juneau on a cruise or land-based vacation.

Steve is an excellent Captain, Whale Expert and super human being. Our family of 4 booked our trip with Steve after his niece Jayleen recommended him when she was booked and it was one of the best trips we had in Alaksa. Steve is really nice and accommodating as we had to book our trip 3 times due to Covid and a bike accident. He picked us up at our ship and took us to his great boat where we began our adventure. He told us all about the Humpback Whales unique tails, migratory and breeding patterns and it was so interesting. Then he was able to find 5 whales that were breaching and one even danced on the water with it's tail. He also took us to see the Sea loins and on the body and that was funny. He dropped us back in town/on the ship and our group split and said the most amazing prayer over our family. It was truly fantastic. I would book with him again in Juneau for sure.

Captain Steven was so accommodating from the time we got picked up from Silverbow Inn to the harbor to the whales. Got to see about 12-15 whales around the boat at multiple times with seals playing by us too! Good thing the whales weren't orcas otherwise the seals would have been lunch! ;) Great narration of play by play of the humpbacks in action. Snacks and drinks were provided and got to see bald eagles too. It was a smorgasbord of adventure and fun! Would highly recommend this tour!

We love hearing what you loved regarding the trip. Thank you for joining us on our trip. It really is amazing to see all the wildlife on the trips, not just the humpback whales.

What a great say we had out on the water with Captain Steve. We were surrounded by about 12 whales including some close up viewing. Steve was great, had great commentary and stories, and even took us out to see a colony of sea lions on Little Island. Fantastic day and we give Captain Steve and his tour our highest rating!

It is pretty special when the animals choose to get close to us. We abide by the Whale Sense guidelines which represents both federal and state laws. It is always breathtaking when the animals want to come and say hello. Thank you for joining us

Juneau is an easy flight from Seattle and after your free COVID test (WA offers several options for free w/results in less than 48 hours) you should be thinking about a vacation here. If you want to immediately start enjoying nature and forgetting your worries, Alaska Humpback Adventures should be your first stop. Not many tourists this year and we saw 20ish whales including 4 cow/calf combos. Saw several groups including one with 7... yes 7 whales hanging out together. It is incredibly rare, however from the first single whale we saw to the last 10--minute breaching extravaganza, we were in awe. The scenery alone is enough to humble you, but the whales are life changing. Steve, the Captain, was just a genuinely nice person who seemed as excited to see the whales as we were. That is rare for someone who has been doing it as long as he has and it is great to be around his enthusiasm and love.

We had the most amazing time with Captain Steve. We were able to see and hear at least 20 humpback whales on our excursion. The waters were smooth as glass and even though it was overcast and gray it was so perfect. A small young humpback jumped out of the water and gave a huge splash just off the front of our boat. Hearing the whales sing and communicate with one another was icing on the cake. I will forever remember this as one of the greatest times of our trip to Alaska. I couldn’t have been more pleased and having an excursion with just our friends was wonderful. I felt as though we were given an amazing gift from God. Thank you for a fantastic adventure.

Isn't their communication just amazing? Not many boats have the ability to listen, and that really is what makes Alaska Humpback Adventures so special. We are so thankful you joined us Cindy. Hope to meet you again in the future.

Please do not hesitate to book with Humpback Adventures! What an amazing experience with a great tour company. I was fortunate enough to have a private tour, but even a shared tour would have been equally as great. The max passengers is about six, so you will never compete to get a good view of the whales. Captain Steve can tell you all about the surrounding area and the whales and other sea life you may encounter. It was an incredible experience to just be with the whales and hear them breath and the backdrop of Alaska was stunning and breathtaking.
One caveat for anyone considering a tour, please remember that these whales are wild, that we are in their environment and as much as we all would like to see them breach or spy hop or flipper flap, they are not here for our entertainment, they are here for one purpose, and that is to feed. The captain cannot predict what will happen or make things happen. So if you go into the whale watch with an open mind and no expectations, then anything you experience will not be a disappointment. You will come away with such an appreciation of these impressive creatures! Also, as much as you may want a sunny and warm day, the weather cannot be controlled either … but again, don’t let that take away from your experience either, and the whales don’t care if it is raining or sunny, they just want to eat! But, the boat is great for indoor viewing as well!
Book the trip! It is so worth is!!!
*I am an avid whale watcher, and go from many different locations - and comparing this operation to others, it is up there as one of the best!
**I haven’t been able to download photos, but the whales were there!

Steve is a phenomenal guide and obviously loves the whales and sharing this great experience with people. I really appreciated the educational aspect and the stories. We saw 9 different whales a total of 24 times!! My 8 year old loved it. I think this smaller group tour was the best choice for my family. Thank you so much Steve for an unforgettable experience!
