When our cruise excursions was cancelled we were very worried we wouldn't get a chance to make our whale watching trip. We do ked in Juneau and when we walked up to stands Tara was quick to greet us and was very friendly. We boarded our boat with Captain Kyle, Steph and Monica who were great guides and made sure we got a chance to see plenty of whales. We were very happy to 3nd up on the boat that we did and would highly recommend booking with Alaska tales

Five Star Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Watching tour

Mendenhall Glacier and whale watching did not disappoint! E.J. provided good local history as he transported us to various locations. Whale watching was absolutely incredible! Mike, Greg, and Monica positioned us expertly with at least 10-15 humpbacks within close range. An experience we won’t forget. It was a rainy day but the interior of the ship was heated and offered excellent viewing for those that chose to not go on deck. Many of our fellow cruise passengers had booked their excursion through the cruise line and these had been cancelled due to weather conditions.

Worthwhile Whale Watch!

Alaska Tales is fantastic! We came in on a cruise and decided against the whale watch excursion through the cruise line since it was so expensive. We found Alaska Tales and M&M tours on the dock and decided to give them a try. We are so glad we did! Larry, Steph, and Rayne were a fun crew and extremely knowledgeable. We highly recommend this experience!!

Excellent, intimate tour service

The bus drivers were very informative about Juneau history and points of interest. The buses were prompt and clean. Captain Brandon on the whale watching portion of the trip maneuvered the boat flawlessly and got us in to a close but respectful distance from the whales. Steph and Kristen were extremely knowledgeable about the whale pods we were viewing, going so far as to know the age of the calf we saw breach multiple times. We saw several other whale watching tours on the water and the boats were packed to the gills. Our tour had around 30 people and ample room to move around the deck and experience the views. 100% would recommend this company.

Amazing Whale Watching trip

They took us on an amazing trip first finding humpback whales and then chasing to find 3 orcas making a big jump súper close to our boat!!! Amazing experience with the súper nice crew: Kyle, Kayla and Steph!!! Big Thanks to them, do come with them!!! 😊🐋

Glorious tail views!

Willam, Sarah, and Monica, provided 5 star whale watching!! As many as 5-6 whales seem, at more than four stops on the voyage. Lovely clean vessel. Expert knowledge, repeat views of named humpback whales, all delivered with true love of the animals, and respect for their environment. Photos of the different whales tales in a spiral bound book. Also learned about the Hubbard glacier. Experience matters. High praise for Alaska Tales.

The boat could hold 47 passengers so it provided a smoothe ride out to the whales. Captain Josh was very professional, quickly getting us to the beautiful whales, and also respecting their space and total time we were allowed to follow each. He then quickly found more whales. Very professional. Kristen also provided interesting information. Had a wonderful day. They provided all we hoped for.

Whale…..that was a great time!

Do not pass up this adventure tour! I went with Captain Mike, William and Emma and had such a good time. They were super friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the whales. Captain Mike got the boat in just about the perfect spot (as perfect as can be when I predict wild life is involved) and had us in the center of a ton of activity. He would get the boat turned around for the best pictures and was constantly updating us on where the whales would likely be and what to look for. EJ, the bus driver to the tour was incredible as well. Full of useful tips, constantly pointing out wildlife—especially bald eagles—and sharing his knowledge about Juneau. Such a good time!! The value for the money was awesome as whale (pun intended). I would definitely go on this adventure tour again.

The combo tour, whale watching and glacier visit, is two separate things. You get bussed to the glacier and then take a catamaran for whale watching. The whale watching was awesome. The naturalists, Rayne and Ben, were so helpful and told us all about whales. We had visited the glacier the day before. That visit was on the weekend and before the season started. Our tour was the first day in the season and there were several bus loads of visitors. I assume it will only get busier. If we had not already been to the glacier, we would have been disappointed in the short amount of time. That is the same for all tour companies. They have a time crunch to fit everything into a short amount of time. This tour company is small so our group was the smallest at both venues. We prefer it that way. If you want a smaller group in your tour, this is the group to book with.

Best whale watching tour in Juneau

Staff were very friendly and informative. Bus driver was also kind and informative on the city as we were driving through juneau. Steph was awesome on teaching us about the whales and their habits. Mike the captain was good about positioning the boat to get close to the whales and definitely saw many come up to the surface.
