Really, this inexpensive stop at Mendenhall was easily the biggest highlight of our cruise to Alaska. We got to watch a mama bear and 3 baby cubs fish for salmon from the safety of a viewing deck for over 20 mins. It sunk in more and more how special that was when we looked back at the pics...joking that Disney... More

Visitor center is a gem, with excellent displays and written materials, as well as beautiful construction. Nice walk to Nugget Falls. The rangers/guides were very well informed and eager to share. Mama bear and her 3 little ones were peeking from the trees and crossed the stream while we were on the elevated walkway. Too cute! And they were not... More

Skip, our guide is amazing. He is a professional photographer who clearly loves working in Alaska. Skip enthusiastically taught our group various photo techniques for capturing wildlife, waterfalls, and even fireworks! Jen, the captain of our boat was skilled at finding and getting up close to seals and whales. Not a moment was wasted on this tour. Even in the... More

Great experience. Bus tickets 30 round trip available in town. The views from the water falls well worth the 15 min walk.

Glad we saw it ..... it is disappearing rapidly. The most accessible glacier in Alaska - near Juneau, good walkways, popular with both tourists and locals. A must if you are there.

On a tour or going it privately, don't miss this experience. Take time to hike to the waterfall and get as close to the Glacier as you can. We also went in August and saw sockeye salmon returning in the stream to spawn and die. Saw a huge beaver gnawing at the trees. Beautiful sites!

It is a great activity to go to see this glacier from the road. Cross your fingers to have a sunny day since the view is amazing.

OK, so here is the bottom line. Visited during a port stop in Juneau during our Alaskan cruise. It was an overcast day so Mendenhall was not as stunning as it may be on a sunny blue sky day. A beautiful setting with the glacier rising up from the far bank of a small lake and weaving it's way up... More

Must see. Beautiful, serene landscape. We took the tour bus. Short ride with Lenny as our driver. Very detailed in his explanation of the area. It is a $30.00 fee for the trip which includes admission to the park. Bus runs till 7 in the evening, so it is a leisurely adventure not to be missed
