Great set up here. The parking lot is accessible. There are lots of fee stations (and it is cheap - 5 dollars a person). Their are public washrooms and a place to eat (that is wheel chair accessible). We did the 2 mile hike to the Glacier (round trip). The waterfall and glacier was stunning. Loved it. And we saw... This is a must see if you are in Juneau! We took a bus for $30 round trip right off our cruise ship and they do pick ups every 30 min. with commentary on the ride. We took the 45 min hike down to Nugget Falls to be closest to the glacier without being on it. I would definitely go... More

Its about a twenty-thirty-minute drive from where the cruise boats dock so doesn’t even try to walk. There are kiosks at the base of the gangway selling round trip tickets. Our helicopter tour was cancelled so we brought tickets on the white bus which left on the half hour. At the glacier the bus stops about 200m from the track... More

We took a van tour of Juneau. The lady dropped us off at Mendenhall and said she would come back an hour and a half later. In case we wanted to stay on, she said that we could catch either the white or blue bus back, which we did. It was very, very cold, but worth the views. We did... More

from the parking lot / viewing area it isn't all that great. i highly recommend walking to the waterfall. that by itself is worth the trip to the glacier. the sign says it takes 45 minutes to get to the falls but my wife and i made it in 25 minutes and we are 61. the water fall is very... More

My sister (who is also my friend) visited Juneau this month and we went to the glacier 3 times. We went to the Visitor Center and watched the amazing time lapse photography of the glacier receding since the late 1800's and learned so much from all the exhibits. We talked to Ranger Will about the best time to see bears... More

While this glacier may not be the biggest one, it certainly is still very impressive. It's getting smaller by the year but just being there is an amazing experience. There is a wonderful information center there and a path that you can take for great pictures. There is also a path that takes you to a waterfall right beside the... More

Visited the Glacier during an Alaskan cruise. What a sight. So beautiful. It's difficult to put it into words. It's hard to understand the size of this until you are next to it. This was easily taller than the cruise ship and while we were there, a large piece of ice broke off into the water. That crack and break... More
