My sister and I had an amazing time on this trip. Our guide Ryley was so welcoming, personable, and fun. She made our canoe trip very enjoyable and informative about the history of the Mendenhall glacier and its surrounding mountains. What made it more memorable was there was myself, my sister, and another traveler who signed up for this tour but luckily we had one of Ryley’s colleagues, Jordan, who joined in to help us paddle the 10-person canoe across the lake to see the Mendenhall glacier. We were blessed with amazing weather, sunny with no clouds in sight and we got to see the panoramic views of all the beautiful mountains that you wouldn’t normally get to see. Highly recommend this to anyone who’d enjoy a nice little workout to get an amazing view of the glacier while having a great guide like Ryley and her colleague Jordan to help out.

Canoe to the glacier and then trekking of glacier. What a once in a lifetime experience. We were picked up by Liquid Alaska Tours at downtown Juneau. We were provided with boots, gloves, rain pants and jackets. We canoed to the glacier about two miles. Once at the glacier we were provided with the crampons needed. Andrew and Casey were phenomenal guides. They helped us with everything from what layers of clothing to wear to how to trek the glacier. They provided many areas to take pictures. We each were given dry bags which contained water and snacks. If you are in Juneau and you want to experience the glacier, I highly recommend this tour. You spend more time on the glacier by taking canoe versus hiking to the glacier as hiking to it takes more time. This is a must tour!

Adventure and challenge all rolled into a fantastic excursion. Remember the days of summer camp and learning to canoe - those memories will be revived as you and your new friends boat across the lake. And then the hike to the edge of the Mendenhall glacier on ground it wants covered. Kelsey and Kelby were excellent super knowledgeable funny and great with people. They made this adventure a 5+. Liquid Alaska Tours equipped you with excellent out with outerwear waterproof pants raincoat gloves and rubber boats. Safety is important too, so life vest, helmets and walking sticks are part of your equipment. a waterproof backpack with snacks to enjoy after the canoe portion and before the hike. At the end of the excursion while you’re returning all the equipment you were treated to a hot drink of coffee hot chocolate or cider. I highly recommend this excursion and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks to Ryan & Andrew our guides (and Mario & Baxter (?) our trainees) we had a great outing. Our guides put safety first, made sure we had all the proper equipment and wore it the correct way. They pointed out really cool (no pun intended) areas of the glacier, took awesome pictures, and filled the time with interesting facts and funny jokes. So glad I went!

We took the Mendenhall Glacier tour that involved a kayak trip across the lake and then walk on the glacier itself. It was great, we met our guides Andrew and Baxter at the appointed location and were provided with the necessary safety and water proof equipment . Both of our guides were very knowledgeable and explained our planned activities with an emphasis on safety. They instructed us on how to get in and out of the kayak; and once on the glacier itself, told us where to walk; how the glacier was formed and how it has melted over the years. Andrew and Baxter sprinkled a bit of humor in all of our activities and assisted in our photography. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and would take another type of Liquid Alaska tour with Andrew and Baxter

I was traveling on a Alaska trip with my family of four (2 teen daughters) and our stop in Juneau was fairly brief. We wanted to experience the glacier up close and personal rather than looking across the lake from the visitor’s center. The adventure did not disappoint. The canoe trip to the glacier was enjoyable, and Lena shared a plethora of interesting facts and details of the area while we paddled. Our group made great time, which afforded us extra time to explore the glacial moraine and even stop by Nugget Falls on the way back (the best view is from the water). Ryan and Lena (sorry if I spelled wrong ;)) were fantastic. Their enthusiasm for sharing as well as their humor kept us laughing. No view can compare to the experience of being up close and personal with the ice. And given the rate of recession, it is a dynamic and ever changing experience. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Liquid Alaska. Their small group approach made the experience personal and that much more enjoyable. And the hot cocoa and coffee at the Glacial Grind can’t be beat after a rainy paddle!

The Glacier Walk Tour was nearly cancelled due to the incredible amounts of rain we had during our visit to Juneau. We could not get to the starting point to canoe to the MendenHall Glacier due to flooding. By early afternoon the road had cleared enough for us to be able make it to the canoe launch area. It was a fun trip. We canoed to the glacier, then hiked "along" the glacier and saw some incredible caves. We could not hike on the glacier due to the rains - was too dangerous. Our two guides, Ryan and Mario made the best of it with the walk along some beautiful blue caves. Was very impressed how they turned an impossible adventure into a fun one that for me is very memorable. Kudos to them.

We had an amazing time and great views of Mendenhall Glacier on the Mendenhall Lake Canoe Tour. Bryce was a terrific guide making sure to point out all the wildlife and getting us to all the best viewpoints. He was knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about what he does.

An unforgettable, once in a lifetime experience! stunning views and an amazing adventure!!
Canoe ride on the Mendenhall Lake all the way to the beach overlooking the glacier. it was breathtaking. Our guides were incredible - picked us up right at the port, drove us 30 minutes through Juneau to the lake and gave us local insight into the town and the nature along the way. Our guides Kelby and Kevin made the canoe ride so much fun, and Kels brought big chunks of ice for us to pose with. Incredible memories and photos! So refreshingly non-touristic- a great way to support a cool local organization. We loved every minute!!!

They’ll give you waterproof gear and some snacks for the journey, be sure to wear warm socks.

Thanks so much Kevin Kelby and Kels for a fantastic experience we will never forget!!

My family had the best time on our Mendenhall Glacier Ice Adventure! We were able to have an unforgettable experience both canoeing and traversing alongside the glacier, with magnificent views. We got lucky with perfect weather and great guides, Sophie and Biko who not only were a wealth of information, but made the experience most enjoyable with their high energy. Sophie kept the ‘dad jokes’ coming in between dishing out knowledge about the glacier and lake as we paddled. While Biko was calm and steady as he led the canoe, but also went out of his way to grab a chunk of ice to hold in our photos and also took a selfie of the boat to send to our group. Highly recommend this as a unique experience in Juneau!
