When we got to Hope, he was just closing. We headed to Homer and returned a week later just to go back to see Peck. He and his wife are very friendly and knowledgeable. We logged 4000 miles in Alaska and this was a most memorable experience. I highly recommend visiting Peck!!

Visited on October 1st. It was a beautiful day 61 and sunny. However everything is closed. Including the restaurants. Whole town seems like a tourist trap. Don't waste your time getting here.

Mr Peck & his friend are a national treasure. My husband & I purchased a $20 bucket & we were given careful instruction on how to pan for gold. And there was indeed gold! This is a one-of-a-kind, individual experience. Mr Peck stays seated nearby. He had a stroke at some point. He is so friendly. His friend was very patient as he gave instructions & had us be so careful not to lose any gold. (I feel awful that I do not remember his name) It is well worth the side trip to Hope. Google Gold Rush Peck to learn history before you go.
