a peaceful small village

It is peaceful small village in remote Alaska. It is nice and beautiful. The city hall is the smallest one I have ever see. Lovely! We even met a Chinese settled there. Surprise!

We Zip lined ,took a trip on the tram and sipped the best Bloody Mary ever. We had a schedulIng conflict. They sent a jeep for us so we wouldn't be late for the zip line.

This was our favourite stop on the cruise. There is not too much to do in port other than ... a great museum, fabulous local shops, great place with an amazing view to grab a local beer, the Zipline, whales, seals and more whales! We were blessed with amazing weather. Cool but clear blue skies. This is a great community... More

We were the first cruise ship to use the brand new pier. Very nice facilities. Friendly staff. Halibut n fries at the Smoke House were perfect. And the Ziprider.... An absolute blast!! So much that I rode it a second time! Saw Eagles and Whales while walking shoreline and Boardwalk.

Icy Strait Point is a short drive from Hoonah. However, it's Icy Strait Point which is the cruise ship stop. Hoonah's leaders did an amazing job, converting the old cannery into a display of their history. Locals in ancestral outfits greet visitors, and will pose with people for photos. At least when I was there, it was done with great... More

Thanks for the review. We think you summed it up nicely and are happy you enjoyed your day here. Since your visit, we've added a new dock and a completely new waterfront restaurant. The Tlingit hospitality, abundant nature and historic cannery remain unchanged. We hope you can come back someday soon. More

There is not much to do at this port stop on a few of the cruise ships. We did choose whale watching with Glacier Wind Charters (highly recommended!) but if you didnt do that, the shops are small and can be done in about 20 minutes. We did see an amazing large starfish along the shore though!

Stopped off during our Alaska cruise, you get a real sense of the history from the museum and the people are so happy to stop and talk to you. The most traditional post on the cruise
