OK, so here is the bottom line. We recently took an Alaskan cruise. We booked Hoonah Travel Adventures directly for whale watching at Icy Strait Point in preference to booking through the cruise ship. Hoonah Travel offers a smaller boat with capacity around 20 people compared to the much larger boat booked through the cruise ship excursion. The Hoonah Travel... More

We decided at the last minute to take this cruise in order to see whales. There were four of us and we rode out and saw some boats looking and saw some whales in the distance. We then sailed out and all of a sudden we see these orcas swimming close to us and then we saw whales! We then... More

Our bear viewing tour was a small group (8 people) which was the perfect size; Stuart our guide, gave us a short tour of the town on our way to the viewing area and was very informative. We saw 5 bears that were very active fishing for salmon and playing in the water. It was great to see the beauty... More

Dave Picked us up promptly from our ship and we took the short ride to the Marina in Hoonah. We boarded the boat with 2 other couples for our Whale Watching adventure. Captain Paul took us out where we found 5-6 whales that were doing the 'Bubble' feeding. We watched this spectacular event several times where the whales came out... More

We had a lovely excursion with Paul who was so enthusiastic about the area and so knowledgeable. We were a small group of 9 so we had the freedom we wanted of walking about and capturing great pictures. Would definately recommend this company as it was awesome!

We had a great time on our Whale Watching adventure in Hoonah. Angie picked us up as scheduled, we boarded our boat and off we went with Captain Paul. He was informative and fun! Full of information about the local wildlife and whales. Pictures too! Although we didn't experience any breaching whales we did see many Orca whales and Captain... More

Our multi-generational family took a whale watching excursion with Hoonah Travel Adventures while on a Royal Caribbean Cruise. The excursion was not offered through the cruise line, and we were very glad to have found it. With many other activities from which to choose while in Juneau, we thought it made more sense to whale watch while in Icy Strait... More

We booked this excursion privately. Capt Paul was entertaining and knowledgeable about the area and the people there. We happened upon a pod of Orcas right out of the harbor, definitely a bonus. We saw numerous whales, sea otters (one with a baby on it's stomach as she swam), seals, eagles. Couldn't find a bear on this visit, but loved... More

We had a great time! Our Captain Paul was terrific. He swiftly drove us to where he saw a sighting. We saw many Orcas (Killer Whales), mother and baby, very large males, and two humpback whales. Paul was very interesting too . . . he informed us about Hoonah and shared many personal experiences, he is very charismatic. We really... More
