Was a last minute decision. Braved booking an excursion not through the cruise. Was more overwhelming in Alaska. Booked through shore excursions.com. It was the best decision of the trip. The whale watching was soooo much better than Juneau. We saw probably 20 or so...More

This tour was about 3 1/2 hours. Relatively small boat with only 16 persons. Snacks and drinks were provided. We saw sea otters, including babies, many porpoises and a few humpback whales. The whales weren't too active that day and we only got really close...More

We booked a combination tour with Misty Bay Lodge, bear watching and whale watching. The bear watching tour was with Becky and I would not normally leave a negative review for it. Becky was a wonderful, engaging guide, we just didn't see any bears (she...More

This is an absolute must-do!!! You are guaranteed to see humpback whales.. we saw tons of them breaching. It was almost surreal! There are plenty of whales and they come pretty close to the boat. And the view of the mountains in the background is...More

What an amazing experience. We saw both humpbacks and Orca's on our whale watching journey with Captain Dan and guide Peter. They knew exactly where to go. Nice small crowd which is way better than the crowded cruise ship tours. We would definitely recommend.

We had a great experience with Misty Bay for our 3 hour bear and wilderness tour. We had Becky as our tour guide and we thought she did a wonderful job. She has only lived in the area for a few years yet she seems...More

We chose this tour vs the cruise line tour. They picked us up at the excursion center near the icy straits point cruise dock. The vessel is a water taxi with room for 16 passengers. Because the vessel was small we were able to maneuver...More

The tour referenced is the one we took. I could not find where that tour is set up on tripadvisor. Tracy was a great guide & her knowledge of the area, wildlife & flora is extensive. We were lucky enough to see bears at 2...More

Captain Dan and Naturalist Brian were brilliant ! Thirteen very lucky passengers climbed aboard Dan's Island Princess Sept 6th for viewing experiences none will soon forget. We cruised to Point Adolphus and right off the bat there were bears foraging the shoreline kelp for grub,...More

My wife and I used Misty Bay Lodge for a whale watching excursion in 2014. Capt. Dan is an experienced skipper and we saw lots of whales and other wild life. On this cruise we used them for a wildlife tour and they did not...More

It is very cold right now. You will not be able to go on the outside deck. Not sure if cruises are still running. The inner passageway is usually calm but the ocean is very rough..
