This is a great place for fresh locally grown produce and home made products. I am amazed to see the number of farmers and the variety of produce that is grown in Homer, Alaska. The seasonal fall bounty of produce were astounding. I snatched up some zucchini blossoms (can’t find that anywhere else in Alaska). There were farmers selling indoor and outdoor locally cultivated oyster mushrooms. Fresh free range chicken eggs were a must try. The best deal was from the locally sourced Jakoloff Bay oyster farm right across Kachemak Bay (12 for $12). Also fresh local vacuum frozen seafood from Island Seafoods were available. They provide fresh seafood to many restaurants in Homer. The special of the day was Alaskan sole for $6 a pound. They also had halibut cheeks, rockfish, cod, etc. There were also locally harvested birch syrup, which is less sweeter than maple syrup. The peonies farmer was selling a bunch for $10 or $3 each. Fresh honey, jams/jellies, pickled vegetables, homemade salsa, baked goods, etc. were also available for purchase. This was a great place for lunch with many vendors. The seafood chowder was very delicious for $5 and the calzone was made to order in a portable pizza oven. A food truck offered fish tacos. The farmers market is open Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm, as well as Wednesday’s. This is definitely the place to spend some time on a Saturday morning for locals and tourists. …

I’ve been to a lot of Farmers’ Markets and I’ve even started a market in my Virginia home town and run it for six years so when I say this is a great market I really do mean it! Love the simplicity, the quality of the vendors, the organization, the lack of frivolous non-core products, the variety of items from the local area, the great balance of all the different kind of produce and products that make it and exciting, dynamic and varied marketplace that almost has you anticipating around each turn what new and different surprise awaits me! Well done Homer! A splendid market indeed! …

We stopped at the farmers' market on Saturday morning to peruse for souvenir/gifts as well as fresh produce. There were a variety of stands that you could walk through in 20-30minutes. Produce was fresh and there were a lot of unique stands in terms of gifts, pre-made snacks, etc. Prices were reasonable and there was parking on the street.…
