Fish was delivered a day late and some had thawed. Keep saying a manager will call me back but never happens.
Paid extra for skin to be removed but they didn't remove on every piece. Also said they would label types but didn't.

homer IS the 'halibut capital of the world,' and
catching your daily limit of two of these delicious
fish is very common. depending on the type of
trip you chose, and the fishing methods used,
several varieties of salmon, including 'king,' are
also caught in the waters of kachemak bay, and
the cook inlet.
while getting these seafood delights from the
sea to the dock isn't all that difficult...getting your
catch home safely, could be another matter.
that's where coal point seafoods, conveniently
located right in the middle of the charter fleet, on
the homer spit, really delivers. thanks to their fine
service, when that great catch hits the deck, you
won't find yourself wondering... "now what?"
your boat's mates will clean your fish--all you
need do is take the fillets to coal point. they'll
weigh your fish, and ask how you want it por-
tioned. then, they'll vacuum pack it, flash freeze
it, and prepare it for shipping...and their fees are
very reasonable.
while they will arrange fed-ex shipping, i chose
to pick-up my processed fish on the last day of
my stay in alaska. it was packed into a cooler in
front of me, boxed, and banded for shipment. i
chose a larger cooler...and filled the additional
space with items from some of coal point's
supurb retail offerings... king salmon, various
smoked fish, local shrimp, and scallops. the
package weighed 43 pounds. since i fly fre-
quently, and don't pay baggage charges, that
box flew as part of my checked baggage...saving
the considerable fed-ex tariff.
counting the 225-mile drive back to anchor-
age, and three flights to get home to florida, the
return trip took a total of 26 hours WHEN WE
OPENED THAT COOLER...THE FISH WAS STILL
FROZEN SOLID... and looked just as it did
when the box was sealed in alaska. we've been
enjoying great halibut dinners for over a month
now, since my return, and because of the very
correct freezing process used by coal point,
the taste and texture is as if the fish just
came off the boat. a visit to coal point seafoods
will allow you to continue enjoying your alaska
trip, weeks and months after you've returned
home!!

We stopped here because we heard from a local that Coal Point had the best price on king crab and would cook it for us. There was a little bar / sitting area and we received great service. The crab was AMAZING and overall, it was a great experience! The $36/lb for the cooked and served king crab was a bit cheaper than what we saw elsewhere in Homer.

We had our halibut catch packaged and shipped at Coal Point. The customer service was excellent. We had our fished packaged, frozen, and shipped to us on the day of our choosing. It arrived perfectly frozen. There was bad weather in our area on the day it was to originally arrive and we were called and told they would send it the next day, just in case of weather-related delays. Now, how is that for service! The fish is vaccuumed packed and tastes just as good as the filets we cooked the same day they were caught.

We used Cole Point several years ago to ship our Halibut to PA. This time was no different. They told us they would be shipping it by FedEx on Tuesday for a Wednesday delivery. On Friday my mom got a call (it was shipping to her house) that there had been a hiccup with FedEx and the fish was safe in their freezer and would ship Thursday for a Friday delivery. It was very considerate of them to call and the fish arrived as promised still frozen solid! Thank you Cole Point!

Traveling with an RV Tour group through Alaska and Canada.
This was the location we used to process our halibut fillets after our charter fishing trip. The shipping prices are much better here than in Valdez! I shipped 15 Lbs. for less than what I could ship 10 Lbs for in Valdez. . . . . . TA this is a store NOT an attraction!

I visited Homer during the slow season and most businesses on the Spit were closed. Coal Point Seafoods was open and had K-bay grown Jakolof oysters for taking home. They were delicious!

We caught a bunch of Halibut and brought them here to be packaged and frozen. The people were super nice and helpful. We had our fish frozen and shipped overnight via Fedex the next week. The fish came frozen but a few pieces were not rock hard and smelled a little fishy. I haven't shipped fish before so I don't know if that is normal or not. A friend of mine cooked some of it and said it was delicious so I guess it was well preserved. I would go to them again.
Caution, shipping is expensive. They will package it and freeze it for you. I would just do that next time and pick up the fish when I'm ready to fly out. They can box it up and you can check it as a bag.

we had a bad experience with these people, we took 169 lbs of halibut and salmon to them. first they round up when weighing fish in, which is the lb. amount you pay for.
second, when we got to th airport and they weighed the boxes in, we noticed the boxes were awfully light, so when we got home, we weighed th fish in all the boxes, totalled 129 lbs, so grand total of rip-off 40 lbs. they kept 40 lbs. of premium fish, no explanation, we arent supposed to notice., $1080 worth, which they now claim is justifiable as trimmings, folks this fish was all flays that were just to be packaged and boxed, i realize its a long way from home and retribution is now a long ways off, but geez, i would find another spot to take my fish in th future, there is lotssss of other people that pkg that wont rip you off

We went here to eat some of the freshly caught oysters out of Kachemak Bay. We got a dozen oysters for $21, which looks to be a good price. They opened them up in front of us and we ate them so quickly I couldn't even get a picture of them before. We lucked out and got the last of the oysters, but they were THE BEST oysters I've ever had in my life. Seriously, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not trying these oysters. This is a MUST VISIT while in Homer.
