We just finished a four day long range fishing trip out of Homer on the Sundy with six family and friends. Captain Garrett and Gavin were awesome and went above and beyond to make it a trip we will never forget. Everywhere we stopped we caught a ton of fish, including true trophies of all species we were targeting. The weather was amazing, whales were everywhere, the deck was constantly filled with fish, and we had an unbelievable time. After the trip we had our fish processed at Ninilchik for an excellent price and superb final product. I highly recommend the long range trip and Ninilchik Charters to anyone that loves fishing, great scenery, and even better people. Thank you to Mike, Garrett, Gavin and the rest of the Ninilchik Charters staff for an experience of a lifetime.

I hunted with captain Jonny and deckhand Daniel last week. We had a full boat of 6 hunters, the crew worked overtime with drop offs and pickups never had to wait long for the skiff and at the end of a days hunt they had us all on fish when we arrived back to the boat. The food was good and no one left the table hungry, the rock fish sandwiches were awesome thanks Jonny. The crew worked hard to get you to the hunt areas you requested if the weather cooperates you made it if not they had great recommendations of other options. One group did show up without sleeping bags so read the gear list on the website, the crew was able to accommodate the sleeping bag issue but it is a remote location so pack accordingly. Great experience will use them again and I will be requesting to be on Jonnys boat.

This was the best and most affordable charter I've ever been on in Alaska. First, they gave a resident discount which was far cheaper than any of their competitors in their area. They also processed our fish for free as we are a military group. Skyler, our captain was an absolute professional and our group of 6 hit our limit within several hours. He was very informed about all manner of local fishing and a pleasure to fish with. The boat was clean and the gear all worked properly. I would recommend this outfit with no hesitation.

When we booked with Ninilchik Charters we explicitly asked for salmon fishing and the lady in charge of the reservation highly recommended Seward over Ninilchik or Homer for this reason, so we chose Seward. We left around 6:30am as scheduled and we got our halibut and rockfish limit in in a few hours and we headed back to Seward around 2pm, not fishing for salmon. We were interested in salmon but we didn’t get any in even though we requested it when we booked. However, this experience is highly recommended if fishing for halibut-rockfish combo.

If I was being honest the trip was not worth it. I feel like me and the 3 others that went on the charter( homer)could’ve bought more fish then we caught. The boat ride to the fishing grounds where rough, seemed like we smacked the boat on the water every few minutes. Ride was so rough we had to hold ourselves down so we didn’t go flying around in the cabin(it was just smack, smack, smack after smack) been on many other charters this was the worst ride ever. Also boat was pretty tiny. Don’t get me wrong we caught fish but it took 9 hrs for 4 people to limit out on baby halibut. Maybe it was just the day we went? I’m not sure but I called to make sure they where catching some hogs or decent sizes they said yes so I took their word. In other words the amount of fish to money spent not worth it most likely won’t be using them again. Might give them another try so they can redeem themselves but I’m skeptical to spend that amount of money again for same results. Also went to New Sagaya to buy more fish ( went on charter in hopes of catching enough fish for a get together) and bought a whole halibut fresh caught just came in that evening for cheaper then the charter and the halibut was way bigger. 3 stars because we did catch fish and didn’t get skunked.

Not to say anything against any other charters. But hands down Ninilchik charters is number one in my book. This was our second trip with Captain Garret and both times I am blown away by his passion for getting everyone fish. We had 16 on this charter and we brought home collectively 32 halibut almost everyone limited on rock fish and about 12 salmon. The time before everyone caught at least one if not two halibut everyone got a limit of rockfish and we put a pounding on the salmon. We have always had a good time and nothing but smiles and fish on!

This was our 3rd excursion with Ninilchik Charters - and the 3rd success. This time we opted for a larger boat than last time - 16 passengers, but maybe better when the swells are bigger. This was our 2nd time out with Capt. Brandon - again a very successfulf day. Brandon and his two crew members were helpful, attentive, and PATIENT with their novice fishermen. Everyone on the excursion caught their halibut and we look forward to enjoying our catch for months to come. We would highly recommend Ninilchik Charters to anyone travelling to Homer.

I was on a halibut charger with Captain Johnny and First Mate Kyle in June of 2020. I was more than impressed with the professionalism and willingness of a charter crew to assist its fishermen. Both staff were willing to answer questions and provide individualized one on one conversation and assistance. The trip was both breath taking and productive. Captain Johnny put us right on the fish and provided us with a safe and steady ride. This crew has been so good that I seek out the charters led by this team. I am a repeat customer and always will be with Capt. Johnny leading the way. Kyle was funny and always willing to help anyone with issues and netting fish left and right. The team constantly made sure our needs were met and safety was the number one priority. I was also impressed with the amount of knowledge that Capt. Johnny new about the boat, fish and waters of Resurrection Bay. I was so happy that I am already looking to do another charter with them. 5 stars x 1000 for this crew - they won’t disappoint.

I’m a professional fishing and hunting guide, I’ve also been on many charter fishing trips. Ninilchik Charters is by far the best I’ve ever had the pleasure to fish with. Michael at the office is exceptional, very friendly and takes the time answer all your questions and communicates everything very clearly. SCHUYLER the Captain is the very best I’ve seen. I will always go with them in the future and recommend anyone else to do the same.

My grandparents took a photo in the 90's of Ninilchik Charters during their Alaska trip (although they didn't go on a charter). After seeing the photo in their album, though, I decided to see if Ninilchik Charters was still in business because there are so many charters out there I was getting quite overwhelmed! When I found they were still around, I read reviews and before booking, called and all my questions were promptly answered. After that I was hooked ;-)

My husband and I were staying in Homer but decided on the Ninilchik launch location due to a smaller boat and group size. It was about a 45 minute drive each way from our AirBnb. We were with Captain Skyler who's awesome and knowledgeable! The water was perfect on this overcast day (very calm which is not too common). The day started off a bit slow but by early afternoon after trying a few spots we started to get more and more bites. There was also some excitement catching a stingray and multiple dogfish! By the end of the day, we had caught our limits.

We live in Arizona so I had some concerns about the fish arriving cold and frozen, but everything went well and all 38 lbs. made it filleted and vacuum sealed. When we return to Alaska we will book again with Ninilchik Charters for a new adventure!
