Spent a few days in the neighborhood, and expectably, the Salty Dawg Saloon became my place of choice for that after-dinner beer (or two). The place is known for its interior décor (US dollar bills everywhere) and its eclectic clientele (an interesting mix of locals and tourists). A mandatory stop indeed.

We did a pre cruise land tour and even though we saw some fantastic views in the park etc the Salty Dawg in little Homer was one of the high points of our trip! It's small and was quite crowded but we met some other travelers at the bar and had a fantastic time. Of course before we left we... More

This bar located on the Homer Spit is supposedly a "must see" visit so my husband and I dropped in on 7/31/15. The weathered looking gray building with the distinctive lighthouse tower has been around for years. Easy to find. In years past the original building has been used as a post office, market, railroad station, Standard Oil office before... More

Stopped in for drinks after a long day fishing. I absolutely loved the house-made Bloody Mary. I crave them constantly! The staff was quick and friendly and the atmosphere is fun. There was no food menu at the time we visited.

The Salty Dawg is a must see saloon on the Homer Spit. From the outside you feel like you're stepping back in time to a sailors bar. The inside is a world of its own with dollar bills pasted to almost every surface. It definitely gives that salty feeling. My only complaint is that even when it's relatively empty, the... More

I think the locals are glad to have their bar back at the end of tourist season, but a stop here should be on your list no matter when you visit Homer! Surprising to us, they serve no food - only drinks... and the opportunity to overhear fish stories or let your story be overheard! So, no food. No comfy... More

Or at least it can be used as wallpaper! Almost every inch of walls and ceilings of this small corner Gin Joint is covered in dollar bills. This is definitely a corner bar / tourist trap. Come just to see and have one beer to say you were here. Don't forget to leave your dollar tip!

Very unique place. The bar tender was super cool, and the drinks were good. The atmosphere is unique as well. The walls are covered in $1 dollar bills signed by the many patrons that have come through the door. The bar tender said there is something like $40,000 tacked to the walls.
