Stopped in a couple of times during our visit to Homer- walking distance from campground. Every fishing village/harbor that I've been to has a unique watering hole and this is theirs. Small, filled with interesting folks from Lord knows where. No telling how many greenbacks are tacked to the ceiling and walls - interesting wall paper/401(k)... Cold adult beverages, fast... More

The salty dawg is certainly the best known bar in homer, and probably in the state of alaska. Although it seems to attract more tourists than locals, it is worth a visit for an afternoon beer. Ceiling and walls covered with dollar bills, tables etched with the names of imbibers long gone... You get the gist of it. One interesting... More

A classic pit stop not no miss. Order an Alaska Amber and find a seat and read the graffiti and you'll be all set for hours. Everyone stops here for at least one beer and I think they donate the $$$ bills periodically to some charity. Don't miss it.

The locals say that Homer is the quaint little drinking town with a fishing problem! This landmark is well known for all the signed dollar bills lining the ceiling and walls. Built in the 19th century it has served as the town's first post office, a railroad station, a coal mining office, and a grocery store. It was moved to... More

We really looked forward to go here in August 2016. Stopped in after a great fishing trip. The help was basically boring ... like "what do you want to drink" was all we could get from them. My suggestion is find another bar with cheerful people that want your business. The money on the low ceilings and walls was interesting.... More

so you can say you've been there. This is a tiny little bar in a very old structure wallpapered with dollar bills that guests have left pinned to the walls. The bartender was very friendly. They have red and white wine, lots of beer, and some liquor (but not a lot of choices). It is not expensive at all. It... More

Landmark pub. Go in for a cold one, don't expect anything fancy (which makes it that much better) We had fun playing the juke box and chatting with the lovely Irish bartender, Noreen on a rainy afternoon. She made us feel at home. Oh...and pick yourself up a hoodie before you go. Great quality with cool authentic logo...I got mine... More

Thinking about this saloon brings Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar" to mind. The Salty Dawg is an old lighthouse-turned-saloon that is fun to visit. It is always packed, the bartenders are cool, and the drinks are strong and affordable. Find yourself a seat, make yourself some new friends, pin a dollar on the wall, and hang on!

Cool stop for a drink while taking in the spit. Hate I didn't get a tshirt but I did put up a dollar. It was cool to glance around at the dates on some of the dollars and see the difference currencies.

Every tourist has to stop at the salty dawg! This time we actually found a bench to sit and and had a few drinks while contemplating what to write on our dollar bill. It's fun to discuss how many dollars there are as there is not much wall or ceiling space left open. I think this classifies as a "... More
