Dive bar in a cool place. Small and dark, bartender wasn't super friendly, but hey your not there for that. Beer was cold, the place was different, worth the stop.

Good (strong) drinks and atmosphere. Put your dollar up on the wall or wherever it can fit. Good bartender's.

Walked in to see the inside and stayed for a Bloody Mary. The best I've ever had in all of Alaska. Also had an Alaska Amber that went down smooth. The bartender was super friendly as was everyone in there.

We dropped in for a beer because you can't go to Homer and not visit it. It's cash only and a small bottle of beer costs about the same as a pint of draft elsewhere. However, it's worth going in to see all the dollar bills pinned everywhere and add your own to the collection. It's a challenge to get... More

If you were starting your own bar, you would never make it if you used the Salty Dawg as a model. But it is iconic and is a must-visit if you are on the Kenai Peninsula. Very limited beers, cash only, very small, no bathrooms. But a great place to hang with both tourists and locals. The greatest thing was... More

Read in guidebooks this was a must see place. Even though I do not drink we decided to stop in and check it out. The place was small and dark. As expected the walls were covered in dollar bills. The woman behind the bar was extremely rude and unpleasant. For such an iconic place, she really ruined the experience. I... More

Yes, it is a must see for visitors. Interesting place with great wall paper :-) Bartender was a lot of fun and mixed a great drink. Will stop again.

No gluten free alcohol, nice atmosphere, I guess its a must to see. Don't want to spoil it, you have to see it for yourself. The bartenders could be a little more friendlier. I felt like I was putting her out asking for gluten free items.

We had to stop by the Salty Dawg as we are avid watchers of the Deadliest Catch. The bartender was extremely rude. We felt so uncomfortable we turned around and walked out. There were 7 of use that wanted a drink and experience the environment. We did experience the environment, but not the way we expected.

Stopped by to check it out. Very small, rather dark. Ceilings and walls and about everything else covered with dollar bills. Black markers on table to write note and dollar. Also thumb tacks in cup on table. After tacking a dollar on wall I walked up to bar and tried to order two beers. Was told they only take cash... More
