We rode on the Bella Vita with Captain Ayjan for a half day tour. It was a lot of fun at just the right time frame for our trip. My 3 kids (ranging 12-15) and myself had never deep sea fished before. We wanted to fish, but still have time for other activities as well.
Ayjan was friendly and a great guide for us novices and made sure we stayed safe as we learned. We had a pair of more experienced fishers with us, and she was good about checking in with them, and letting them do their thing until she was needed. We all got our halibut allowance during the time on the water, and got to see some perks of humpback whales and orcas while we were out there. Between the 4 of us, we ended up with 34lbs of halibut fillets.
I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking to experience some fishing, at any level.
We had a great time.

My husband and I took a half-day fishing trip on the Bella Vita with an amazing captain - Ayesian - who was so sharp and delightful. We caught halibut and cod. She took care of everything including cleaning the fish and contacting someone to process and mail it to us. Happy with our catch Ayesian was willing to take us over to
Moldavia since the water taxis were not operating. What a charming town this was to see! We highly recommend this company and Ayesian as a captain on the Bella Vita!

We went out with Faith and another couple. She was very knowledgeable, you could tell how passionate she was about the area. The boat was intimate and very nice. We were able to warm up inside or hang outside on the boat. She made sure to get us close to wildlife. She made sure to avoid stressing out the animals but still allowed us to be able to see many different animals.

Every time I go to Homer, I book a charter on one of David Bayes' boats (Current Lady and Irish Mist). The last two trips, we have gone with Captain Chelsea on the Irish Mist. She again proved fantastic. She knows fishing, is very personable, runs a great boat, and works extremely hard. I know a lot of people that go out on fishing charters aren't really into fishing--she is. So if you want to catch fish and learn some things, I would highly recommend the Irish Mist.

We booked a half-day on the Bella Vita with Captain Jordan. He was personable and fantastic with our 2 young boys! Everything was perfect! Andre even went out of his way to keep up with NOAA regulations to see if we could fish for halibut up until the planned trip. Highly recommend!

We had a half day Halibut trip on July 1, 2021. Our captain was Faith. It was a really outstanding morning of fishing and Faith was excellent at managing everything we needed to haul in some nice Halibut. Everyone got their limit. Watching her filet the fish right there on the boat was something to see. The boat was clean and comfortable. We even saw wildlife including orcas, sea otters and a harbor seal. The trip was easy to book and we would definitely recommend it.

Captain Andre took us out on our tour and was absolutely amazing! He was knowledgeable and very patient with our very chatty and inquisitive 9 year old. He took family pictures for us in the beautiful bay and made sure we got good pictures of all the wildlife! Perfect group size for our little family. Definitely will return!

Last minute chance to get on a half-day trip to fish for Halibut. Weather was perfect. Had a lot of fun with Captain Dave. He was great! Couldn't have been nicer or more helpful to us novices. He found our fishing spot! There were 6 of us and we all caught multiple fish and got our quota to keep within 1 1/2 hours. Definitely recommend Central Charters for your next excursion.

A wonderful experience with Captain Faith! The entire family of parents, grandparents and teens had a great time. Faith was a very friendly captain who did everything possible to ensure we limited out with decent fish while enjoying spectacular scenery including breaching whales and other marine life.

My partner and I did the 1/2 day Halibut Charter on the Belle Vista with Captain Faith and First Mate Mike. We weren't sure how much we'd see/catch with our limited time, but Faith and Mike took us to the most beautiful spots with Halibut galore! They weren't the big 200 lb trophies, but that wasn't what we were looking for. Within the first 2 hours of the charter, all 6 guests had reached their limit (2 halibut per person) all within 7 - 30 lbs. After we reached our quota for the day, Faith took us to see some local sea life at a nearby island. She cleaned all of the fish on the way back while Mike drove and called the local fish processing plant to meet us at the dock to pick up our fish. They were there when we arrived and quickly asked us what we were looking for. The whole process was care-free, fun and an absolute pleasure from start to end. We will definitely be requesting Faith and Mike again on our next trip to Homer!

Is the water fairly calm between Homer and Seldovia or would it be a rough ride for someone prone to sea sickness?
Written June 25, 2017
Our day was a very calm day, so it was very smooth. I think it varies drastically on the type of day. But, in general, I think that just between Homer and Seldovia wouldn't get too rough usually. If going out beyond there, it could get rougher.
