A float plane ride alone like none other from the float plane lake out of Homer to Kamai, world famous to watch the big browns top of the waterfalls waiting for the salmon spawning upstream to catch the salmon midair (the phtographer's dream and challenge is not to photo the bears as they are in abundance but to photo the... The Bald Mountain team is very professional and customer focused. The aircraft is top notch. That said, we were disappointed that we went to Brooks Falls (which is GREAT in July, but not so great in August). Saw a couple of bears, but not near the experience of a July trip I made several years ago. Brooks is a beautiful... More

Fast, powerful, 10-passenger planes make the ride between Homer and Katmai smooth and easy and Bald Mountain has two of them. Our trip was in rainy, overcast weather and the ride was so smooth, most people slept during the ride back to Homer. The two pilots on our trip were friendly and experienced and made the trip fun, educational, and... More

We were 2 out of 10 on the plane and had the time of our lives. Our pilot went over safety rules and a brief description of what you could expect on Katmai. We left right on time, smooth flight over and back. Saw bear playing in the falls, catching salmon and swimming in the lake. I would highly recommend... More

Our first trip was cancelled due to bad weather at our destination. The gal in the office was great and immediately made us a new appointment for the following weekend. Our flight was good over to Katmai, and the pre-flight info by owner Gary, was spot on. Everyone hurried off the plane, but as I was taking my time and... More

My daughter and I planned a trip to AK at the end of July and I had a client who told me about the salmon jumping and bears fishing at Brooks Falls, so I looked around for a day excursion that was convenient to where we were - Soldotna. This trip actually leaves out of Homer, which worked for us,... More

This was a very poor day of bear viewing. I have flown with Bald Mtn for about 20 years now and on a scale of 1 to 10, ten being great I would rate my August 4th trip to Brooks Falls a 2 at best. Left a little late and it was raining cats and dogs. There were just 3... More

Our family had a wonderful day with Bald Mountain Air Service. We flew from Homer to Brooks Fall and it was all we had hoped for. We were nervous about the trip in a small float plane, but it was wonderful! The day was bright and sunny, and the scenery from the plane was gorgeous. The bears gave us hours... More

The owner/pilot was very down to earth and told us how to get the most out of the . I have now seen more Grizzly bears up close than any black bear i have seen in my entire life. It was facinating watching a momma bear enteract with her cubs, and feeding them. It was a very smooth and comforatible... More
