North Country Charters took care of us in every way. The booking process was simple and seamless; we had all the info we needed well in advance. The day before our trip, we were contacted to confirm details and lunch selection. The trip itself could not have been better. The captain and deckhand were friendly and professional. They ensured our safety and comfort at all times, and went out of their way to show us a great time. Of course our entire party caught our limit of halibut, in large part thanks to the knowledge of the crew. The boat was clean and worked great, and we departed and returned on time. This was an excellent experience all around - I highly recommend checking them out!

We did a halibut charter with these guys on our 3rd charter while we visited Homer, AK. They definitely did us right. The Cap't (forgot his name - sorry) was also the crew. We went out with 2 other guys from Texas, and 1 local guy (friend of the Capt'n). We did limit out and caught some decent size fish. My brother did get a 49 lb - er while my biggest was 41 lbs. Our unders were also of decent size pretty decent size. Had an awesome time & would not hesitate to recommend these folks.

On what basis do you rate a business that simply sets you up with independent contracting boat captains/ocean fishing guides? So much of your experience is based on how well the boat captain/fishing guide does in allowing you to catch the fish you are looking to catch. Well, the reason I give North Country Charters (“NCC”) 5 stars is because, not only do they obviously contract with knowledgeable and experienced boat captains, but even more importantly, they provide you with exceptional service both before and after your day of fishing. The actual employees if NCC are knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful in making your fishing experience as easy and enjoyable as you can possibly get. Before your day of fishing they answer any question you may have, no matter how stupid it may be (which describes the questions I asked), but they let you know everything you need to do to prepare for your fishing trip (getting your fishing license, what to wear, what to bring, etc.). After your return from your day of fishing, they hang the fish for pictures to be taken of you and your catch, they clean and filet the fish, and they assist you in making arrangements for your fish to be packaged, frozen, and shipped overnight to your home (after you return home). Of course, if you want to take your fish with you, they pack it up for you after it is cleaned. Because of the friendly, courteous, and helpful services provided by the employees of NCC, they deserve 5 stars. I definitely will use NCC to arrange for my next trip to Homer. (My two adult sons and I loved our 2 days of fishing through NCC. Our guides were Jay on the first day and Brian & Allie the second day. If you are a group of 3 or more, and if you do not mind paying a bit more money to do so, I highly recommend reserving the entire boat for your fishing party. Otherwise, you will get “stuck” with other people being on your boat. I say “stuck” because we were stuck with two real jerks on our first day of fishing. The second day I reserved the entire boat. As you can imagine, the second day was far better - we caught our limit in King Salmon and Halibut in less than 3 hours of fishing.)

We booked the 3/4 day trip and had a great time. We had JR and Billy as our crew. We hit into some halibut and had these 2 working hard to get out fish onboard. They are very friendly and knowledgeable and patient with inexperienced fishermen/women. It was an excellent adventure!
