It's difficult to describe how incredible our trip was with Captain Eric and Spike but we'll do our best! Captain Eric and Spike's knowledge of tides, tackle, and timing was second to none. Their expertise, patience, and humor made for an unbelievable
day of fishing that allowed us to fill the deck with halibut, salmon, and rockfish! Along the way, Captain Eric pointed out sealions, whales, eagles and puffins which was an expected bonus, while Spike wasted no time preparing our catches for the Homer Fish Processing Company. We cannot thank them enough for such unforgettable experience!

Captain Eric and first mate Spike were awesome. We were scheduled for the halibut/salmon all day trip. The weather was pretty bad and the Captain said that we could do a quick run out and each catch our halibut limit and return due to the rough seas. We all agreed. Sure enough he took us to the right spot and within 30 min we all had our halibut limit. The Captain was talking to other captains and was able to work his was around the rough seas. We ended up being out all day catching a bunch of fish and having all six of us catch our King Salmon limit. It was a great day of fun and fishing. It was my third charter with Maverick and will be returning. Always a great experience.

Local here, and I'll keep this short and sweet. We choose Maverick every time! Billy and Eric are both amazing captains- safe, skilled, knowledgeable, and friendly. We just got back from another halibut trip on the Ultimate. Billy and deckhands Chey and Amy were awesome as always! Billy makes it his mission to make sure every person on the boat catches their fish. We all caught our under (smaller halibut) pretty quickly, and over half of us got our larger fish within another hour or 2. There were 3 or 4 out of the 15 anglers who still needed their 2nd fish, when the fish stopped biting. Billy knew the spots to try, and kept trying. He stayed out a little late that day, but we came back to dock with all our limits! Chey and Amy are one of the best crews I've fished with. They kept the boat clean, bait on, lines un-crossed, and cleaned our fish on the way back, all with beautiful smiles and friendly conversations. These gals are just awesome!

We had our toddler with us this trip. They went out of their way to make sure she had a comfortable place to nap, and she actually did sleep for almost half the trip. They made it easy to take her with us fishing.

They have great boats. They know where to go. They know how to get your fish.

But more than anything, Maverick Charters represents what Alaskans truly are. Whatever comes up, they will treat you like their own family. They're honest, hardworking, and friendly. There's no guarantee that you'll catch fish. But nobody will work harder to make sure you that do. You can't go wrong to book with Maverick!

Paid for all day salmon and halibut fishing. Didn't even have an attempt at salmon due to them doing a "rotation one at a time fishing" for salmon. First guy didn't even get a bite and he was experienced in fishing. He said he got tons of salmon the day before on his own personal boat in spots he knew were good. The captain then rushed us all to halibut fish at once. Nobody got any "trophy" fish. Captain finally just took us to the obvious spots they take the 3 hour cheaper fishing groups that pretty much guarantee you'll get a fish but all we got were small halibut. The next day we spoke to other people that fished on another boat and they said they got so many fish of all kinds they had to throw them back. They all got huge halibut and kept having to throw back the over sized ones because they couldn't get small ones as their second fish to keep. I understand fishing is unknown day to day ... but this was disappointing for what we paid for.

I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed with your fishing trip with us. I looked back on that day and it was a struggle for a lot of the boats out there fishing - hardly any salmon were caught. Capt Daniel is an excellent fisherman and wants nothing more than to get his customers on fish. I know he worked hard for you guys and unfortunately there are just no guarantees with fishing. Please feel free to give us a call if you'd like to discuss anything further, (907) 235-8792. Thank you, Mandy

Captain Daniel and Jake of the Outrageous lived up to their boats name!! We spent two days fishing with them, 1 day a full day halibut only and the 2nd a full day multi-species. They were amazing!! Both bent over backwards to make sure every guest was having a great trip and consistently put us on the fish. Even on a trip that had potential issues with incoming weather, Daniel booked it out to the spots with the best chance of catching our limits. Sadly, we weren’t able to catch our salmon limits, but that was the only thing that proved this was still “fishing” and not just “CATCHING”!!! (The rockfish did teeter over to the “catching” side of the scale!). I’ve already recommended Maverick and Outrageous to friends and will continuously do so!!! Thank you for an amazing and unforgettable trip!!

I had my wife and three kids visit from AZ and we decided to take a 3/4 day halibut charter on the Maverick which was fantastic. We had two female deck hands who were sharp as a tack and really new their stuff: their fish cleaning skills were some of the best I have seen. I highly recommend Maverick charters, especially if you are taking anyone on their first time deep sea fishing in AK.

Let's answer the most important question first - Yes we got our limit on Halibut to bring back to the mainland! Now the important details....We were lucky as we booked a trip on the 56' boat named the Ultimate. Why was this important.....because the waves were huge and the wind was whipping about. We lasted out in the fishing grounds hours more than the poor smaller boats. Our Captain was Billy, it was the end of the season and he looked weary, and still he persisted on getting us on the fish to reel in magnificent Halibut one at a time. Pretty much the whole boated limited out, as you would hope for when fishing for high value tasty fish. But thank goodness for the bigger boat, and the endurance of the crew. Our Deck hands were Amy and Cheyenne, these two girls were insanely fun, hardworking, and all around amazing. Besides working to keep everything baited, and bringing on board the catches, they also cleaned and fillet the Halibut in what could only be described as a show style ballet presentation on a moving stage. Absolutely adored this tour, the Maverick crew, and the adventure of fishing two hours off-shore for Halibut. Worth every moment!

I have been out with Captain Erick 4-5 times and have been very successful every trip and had a great time. Captain Erick is very knowledgeable and easy and fun to talk too. This year we came back with a whopping 455 pounds of filets of halibut, rockfish, and salmon. He really cares about the customers and the wildlife and will ensure you have a great time, definitely recommend going out with him or any Captain with Maverick Charters. I will be back again for many years to come. Cheers, Tyler

This crew and captain are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and true professionals. A small group of us participated in the 3/4 day trip, and all of us limited out quickly - a pleasant and welcome surprise!

The Ultimate (the boat we took out) had about 10-14 people overall and was super clean. For those that get seasick, this ship travels very well on the water; however, we didn’t have rough seas.

Overall, the crew and captain clearly know where the fish are and this is a charter I highly recommend. If you are thinking about fishing in Homer, book with Maverick Charters.

We went for a full day of halibut fishing on the Ultimate. Check in was a breeze, and it was just a short walk to the dock from their office. There were 12 of us in our group with a few other people on the boat. We chose Maverick because we were traveling with our children and they seemed to be one of the only charters that were kid friendly. The boat was spacious and comfortable, and there were two bathrooms on board. The deckhands were outstanding! We all had a blast and had so much fun. The captain was great and informative. Initially the waters were pretty rough where we first stopped to fish. We weren't having much luck and learned about bananas! We had so many of them on board (oops) and quickly learned they bring bad luck. We tossed them over. The captain decided to pull anchor and move to a calmer spot. We had fish on instantly. Our lines were constantly getting fish on! It went on for hours and never stopped. The deckhands were so helpful and quick, they gave us the option to keep our any size fish or keep trying for a larger one. Everyone on board was friendly and fun to be around. The deckhand brought up a special bean bag seat for the kids to sit/nap in because the boat was rocking quite a bit. They always went out of their way to make sure we were all comfortable. When we returned to the dock, Homer fish processing was there to greet us and gave us several options for our fish processing. It was so convenient and easy! We are so grateful we chose Maverick Charters! This was our first time ever visiting Alaska and they made it happen for us, even with our children. We will definitely be back and would recommend Maverick to anyone looking to fish out of Homer. We are already planning our trip back next summer without the kids.
