We booked an overnight trip and a few days before we were supposed to go a big storm came through and tore up the tents. The trip was cancelled at the last minute and we were stuck with a hotel reservation that we could not cancel. It took them 2 months to send the refund for the trip and they sent it to the wrong address. I got the check after about 6 weeks but in the mean time they put a stop payment on the check because they thought it was lost. It took them 2 months to send a check and they couldn't wait 2 months for it to clear? The bank hit me for a charge because I tried to deposit a bad check I eventually got a check for the cost of the trip but they refused to pay the bank charges. They said they had to pay for a stop payment and it was my fault. They have no problems accepting your money but if you need to get it back, watch out! Bad weather in Alaska is not uncommon and neither are trip cancellations

"Hallo Bay" Tours in Homer We had booked a half-day-bear viewing trip with that company in Homer assuming we would be taken to Hallo Bay in Katmai. The very name of the company and all the information we had let us believe that we'd be flying to Katmai (1 hour flight, list of what we had to bring etc; and even the video we were shown in the office while waiting for the flight was about Katmai). Our first surprise was when the lady in the office told us we would not be needing wellies, then that the flight was only 35 to 40 minutes. We flew across Cook Inlet to a place we're not even sure of and saw 5 very lazy bears mostly inactive and lying around (it was early afternoon). We feel that the company is purposedly not very clear about the difference between half day and full day tours (there is a mention of another national park on their site online (Lake Clark National Park) but it is not said that half-day tours fly there instead of Katmai. It was only after the tour and the disappointment after paying each 650 dollars that I looked at the map and assumed we had flown to a beach across the Inlet (perhaps Chinitna Bay ???). Hence, we do not recommend this company for bear viewing and it is wiser not to book in advance from abroad sonce many other tour operators based in the Spit offer bear viewing. Make sure you fly to Katmai ! Gilles (France)

My wife and I booked our 2 day bear viewing tour in Febru Our wilderness camp suffered significant weather damage during a severe 10 day storm." We were extremely disappointed with no time left to arrange another trip. It appeared that they lied to us and nothing we could do about it. At the sameary 2017 for July 16-17, 2017 and built the rest of activities in Alaska around it. It suppose to be the highlight of our visit to Alaska. One week before the tour start date I called their office and asked to confirm booking. I spoke to two different people and they assured me that the everything is according to booking plans. Then, 5 days before our tour date I received an e-mail: "We are not able to fulfill your reservation at our Hallo Bay Camp. time I called with trip confirmation question their mysterious severe 10 day storm should've been destroying their camp. If it happened to us it can happened to you. Select any other company for your Alaska activities but Hallo Bay Camp - liars.

Lance was our guide who was professional and very informative. Mark was our pilot who was very experienced. Our weather was stunning. We went to Lake Clark national park and reserve and managed to see 24 bears in their natural environment. We had two close, very exciting encounters with two bears and Lance defused both situations so well. We all felt very secure with confident with his expertise and calming nature with the bears. This was the most amazing experience for us all and something we will be talking about for a very long time. Thanks to both Mark and Lance for such a fantastic day.
