What a wonderful experience!!!! Spencer was a great guide and we leaned so much from him about all that we saw and did on our hike and kayak trip. Let me be honest, the hike was not easy, so if you are not physically ready, stay on the bus. The initial climb from the starting point is hard, but Spencer gave us time to catch our breath and ready for the next segment. After that the hike is good and scenes are beautiful of surrounding mountains and Grewingk glacier lake. If you want to meet God's best, you will love Spencer and I'm sure his bother is a fine guide too. The lake kayak trip was good and gave us an adventure that we will long remember. We saw a bear on our return trip, but the encounter was handled with professionalism and we felt very safe. The weather is hard to plan but our day turned out perfect and we were good in one layer with a wind breaker or raincoat. I would highly recommend 3 Moose and it's well worth the money. Any way you look at it, it's a great investment of your time and money to give it a try.

Our adventure began with a pleasant water taxi ride from town to the property, which was arranged by Three Moose Kayaker Adventures as part of the tour. We were greeted by Jensen and his assistant for the day, Daniel and after a safety orientation we were on our way. The hike was strenuous for us - we are both 65 and not regular hikers - but Jensen adjusted the pace and kept the commentary going so it's was quite doable. The land we hiked through was beautiful and our first view of the glacier and the lake was breathtaking. After another safety orientation we began the kayaking portion of the tour, which included a stop for the picnic lunch we brought along and a real close view of the glacier as well as many smaller "icebergs" which varied in color from white to diamond clear to blue. Jensen did a great job explaining the history of all the beauty we were seeing. Once back onshore we hiked back to the property then took the water taxi back to town. As a bonus, the taxi captain detoured to a place called Bird Island where we saw thousands of birds as well as hundreds of otters, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, we had an amazing day. If you are going to be in Homer Alaska and enjoy an active adventure this is the tour for you.

An amazing day-trip if in Homer! My mom (late 60s) and I both had a fantastic time. The folks at Three Moose do an awesome job at catering the pace to the people in the group. Ou trip was lead by Jensen and Spencer who both did an outstanding job sharing knowledge of local plants/ wildlife and the history of the area. Best of all the landscape was breathtaking and truly unforgettable. This is a once in a lifetime kind of experience I will be recommending to all my family and friends!

My friend and I had a truly wonderful day hiking and kayaking around Grewingk Glacier with Jensen. It was one of, if not, my most favorite experience(s) I had during my two-week trip in Alaska. I highly recommend everyone to jump at the chance to book this opportunity with this family-run business. It was an active day surrounded by astounding scenery, a relaxing atmosphere, and really great company.

A perfect day.

A little more detail for those curious:

You have to take a water taxi to get out to Halibut Cove where the excursion begins, but it was an easy process. We simply checked in at the dock at the arrival time and climbed aboard; the ferry ride isn't too short or too long and you get to enjoy all of Kachemak Bay.

Once we arrived we were greeted by Jensen on the Three Moose dock and we immediately began our day. A nice hike on Saddle Trail brings you to the Grewingk Glacier lake. We took some time to enjoy the view before continuing with a short hike out to where we would gear up for the kayaking portion. (Note: those who hike regularly/are relatively active shouldn't find this too challenging. But! Even if it turns out to be tough, you will never be rushed and are encouraged to go at your own pace)

After getting to the gear-up point we helped inflate the kayaks, had a safety orientation, and embarked. I'd say we spent at least an hour going around the lake and learning about the surroundings. I loved every moment. I took approximately 200 pictures and not a single one of them can do justice to the beauty of this place.

Fantastic full day spent hiking and kayaking to see the Grewingk glacier. Jenson, our guide, was informative, engaging and so personable and passionate about this Alaska area. This is a full day of active experience which was wonderful!

Great way to spend a day in Homer. Take a short ferry across Kachemak Bay and hike inland to a glacier lake then kayak up to the glacier stop for lunch and relax. After lunch you kayak back across the lake then hike back to camp. My family and I did it and had a great time! Spencer was awesome and a great guide. Hope to make a return trip some day.

Took a beautiful 2.5 mile hike out to Grewingk Lake. The beginning of the trail has moderate elevation gain but the rest of the trail flattens out and eventually winds down to the lake. Our guide, Spencer, was knowledgeable about the area and shared a lot of interesting information with us. Once we arrived at the lake, we set up inflatable kayaks and headed out on the lake. It was a beautiful and calm day so we were able to paddle almost all the way up the glacier. There were also several icebergs on the lake that we could paddle around. It was amazing! After a stop to eat our picnic lunch and take a short hike up to a spectacular viewing point, we made our way back up the hiking the trail to the dock. Trip includes transportation to and from Homer via water taxi.

Amazing experience hiking to and kayaking on the Grewingk Glacier Lake! The hike to the lake is easy to moderate difficulty, they are very patient and willing to adjust the hiking pace as needed. Once you reach the lake, there's a quick safety demo and then you're off! You are literally navigating your way through icebergs on the kayaks! It is so much fun with breathtaking views of the glacier and surrounding mountains!

Three Moose is a family run operation. They've been doing this for decades and it shows. Our guides were two brothers who were friendly and entertaining. The area is awesome on its own, but they somehow make it even more fun and memorable. They are very knowledgeable and have great stories about the history of the region.

We had a blast, I can't recommend this kayaking trip enough! If you're looking for an unforgettable experience during your Alaska trip, this is it! You will not regret it!!!

What a great trip! Three sons working hard to carry on the tradition their father started.

The trip had a little of everything. Jensen made a great captain for our cruise over and back from Homer to Halibut Cove and Zack was an excellent guide for the hike and kayak portion giving us lots of laughs.

Lots of breaks on the hike up and over during the hike as well as wind-free nooks to take a break in during the kayak were greatly appreciated by my 6’6, 290 lb husband.

I highly recommended if you are looking for something that has a little of everything and gets you great views of Grewingk Glacier.

We just finished a fantastic trip with Jenson and Miles with Three Moose Kayak adventures. We all enjoyed the hike through Kachemak State Park to arrive at the lake at Grewingk Glacier. Views were beautiful. Kayaking was fun - challenging for a novice, but not too hard. Lunch on the warm rocks looking at the glacier was a lovely break. Family- owned business, great people, beautiful place. We even saw a pod of orcas from the water taxi on the way back to Homer. Would highly recommend this adventure!
