We departed early from Homer for the 55 mile boat ride to the bear beach. Boat was clean and comfortable and crew was great. Felicia, our guide did a great job getting us up close to bears. We were on the beach about 2 hours and saw bears constantly. Be sure to bring insect repellent. A "bucket list trip for sure!…

They took us for a ride. This was our second time fishing with Alaska Ocean Pros. The first time was 5 years ago with Captain Andre, and we enjoyed our experience. Since then, we’ve experienced other charters at other ports. Because we enjoyed our experience last time, we booked again when we were in the area. We actually booked 6+ months in anticipation for our trip. The day of, the weather was terrible. We had a difficult time getting a hold of anyone the night before, but they told us they were still planning on going. The morning of, we were the ONLY charter that went out of Homer. The only one. Everyone else canceled. To top it off, our captain wasn’t even there. We had two deckhands (who did the best they could) who took us out into the horrific weather. We couldn’t cancel the trip without forfeiting our money. The only way to get a refund was if they canceled on us. Unfortunately, an overzealous deckhand wanting to be captain for a day, didn’t cancel the trip and such began a long day. It was a stressful experience on the Casino boat. The heater didn’t work in the cab, and it seemed like the two deckhands had never worked together before. They tried to make the best of things and we finally found a little cove out of the way that hadn’t been affected by the storm. Lots of kelp, but we were able to get a little over half our limit of rock fish. They kept putting on a show for us (probably thinking we were novice fishermen) and acting like the fish was huge and so great. While we were grateful to get the fish we did, it was overall a poor experience. After having our reservation for months, we caught no salmon and a little over half our rock fish limit. We felt shafted for not having an experienced captain on board and being taking out on a day when literally ZERO other charters went out. A real bummer since we made the special trip to Homer just for this charter. We most likely will never fish with this charter/company again.…

We had a blast! Jimmy our captain and James the deckhand were just wonderful and so eager just like all of us fishing. We caught our limit in no time and also was able to see ocras, gray whales and the walrus or seals I can't remember which one I was told. This is a trip I would do again. Thank you for a great adventure! Mike and Kim Nelon…

It was a great trip and Gabe and James are very good at their job. We caught our limit of fish in just over2hours! Doesn’t always happen I understand but we were blessed! The only hitch was a mix up in the trip we were to take. We did halibut only but was booked for combo. I guess it was due to the rebooking from 2020! They did refund the difference of cost for the different trips! I’d recommend it for sure. It’s work so take that into consideration!…
