We splurged on the Hallo Bay Bear Viewing Combo and were not disappointed. We were most interested in getting close to the bears but all three legs of the flight were a treat. Our pilot Stephanie is an extremely calm, confident, competent flyer. I felt totally relaxed and confident of her abilities. The aircraft, a Cessna 206, was much smoother and more capable than other smaller planes we have flown in and this contributed to the feeling of confidence.
Similarly, our time with the bears was much more relaxed than I expected. Again it was Stephanie’s knowledge and calm confidence that enhanced the experience. What a treat it was to spend time with bears grazing in extensive grasslands with a backdrop of glaciers and jagged peaks.

Amazing experience. I feel guilty, we forget name of pilot, but he was super cool. Loved hearing his Alaska stories and how he splits time between Alaska (summers) and states. Was finishing college in Kansas/Nebraska? Important part: our pilot was super personable and knowledgable of the area. Take their advice, get off the plane and head straight to bear school. It is a bummer, we spent maybe 3-4 hours in Katmai? It would be cool to spend a night or two at the lodge, but if you are limited on time (like our family of 4) then this is a good option. We got the afternoon flight. Heard the morning flight was cancelled due to fog in Homer. That would stink, but they refund if weather cancels the trip. They had the best prices, definitely book in advance, I think we locked in 6 months out. Would do it again!

My husband and I took his 16 year old niece on the hour plane ride and we all loved it. So many views and so beautiful! The coolest thing we have done in Homer. When any other family members come visit, we are going to recommend Beryl Air to get the best views of Alaska. So worth it.

We flew in to Katmai with pilots Steph and Simon.
Firstly, they enthralled us with some tour guide style information about the various sights that you see on the way to the island, sharing some interesting tidbits about the history of the place. This on its own was almost like a Alaska by Air tour which you usually would pay good money for!
And then the flying itself.. We started flying in what was pretty good weather and then 3/4th the way in, we encounter some rather thick cloud cover. Both Simon and Stpeh teamed up to try 3 different routes before we could actually find a clear way into the island , some great problem solving mid air.
And finally, once you reach Katmai you are usually surrounded by big crowds (suprise surprise) all trying to get a glimpse of our furry friends. Simon and Steph were kind enough to hike up before us and put our names on the wait list while we went through the bear training and that was the ONLY way we would have been able to get in and out in time.
Overall, wonderful experience.
10/10 would recommend!

We enjoyed our Cook Inlet flight with Stephanie. She was an exceptional pilot, and we appreciated her knowledge of the area. She took us around Mount Iliamna, and we were able to see bears from the plane in Lake Clark National Park. We would recommend this scenic flight. It was a great flight with breathtaking views.

We had the best time! Henry was our pilot and we felt completely safe. Plane was a Cessna with 5 passenger seats. The plane has headsets so you can hear the pilot describe the places you’re flying over and you can also talk and hear each other. Our trip was to Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park to see the bears and on our bucket list to see. Trip of a lifetime and I highly recommend it. The scenery to and from Katmai is worth a trip in and of itself . Highly recommend Beryl Air!

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Waterfront Cabin. The view of the lake from the cabin were wonderful, and the cabin was very clean and spacious! The bed was comfortable and the cabin had all the necessary items needed for the stay. It was also conveniently located to restaurants and other activities, and ideal for a trip with Beryl Air. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this cabin to others.

We had a fantastisc day out in the Katmai NP. We were a family group of 3 from Germany and Stephanie our pilote and guide did a great job. The flight along the coast mountains and vulcanos was already very memorable. And we never expected to be that close to the bears. I guess we were lucky to see the bears right after we landed. Absolutely recommendable!

I did the Lake Hoper—Lake Clark and Katmai National Parks. What an awesome experience! Henry was an excellent pilot and took great care of me getting on and off the plane! He even had signs for me to hold for a picture, at each stop! Henry did his best to find wildlife and get as close as he could, and not break any rules! I highly recommend this tour!!!
