Unexpectedly, I got to take a tour with Alaska Nature Tours one day at the end of October 2016. The bus itself is a classy old-style bus, roomy, and the audio system works well. Each passenger is given a pair of binoculars, though I don't recommend using them when the bus is underway - could get sick! We drove to... More

I went on this tour with Pam as the guide and Dan driving the bus. It was a very enjoyable tour that was definately worth my time. The weather seemed to like us because it was sunny and warm (only needed a light jacket). If you go on this, be sure to bring a camera. There are plenty of places... More

This excursion started with a 45 minute boat ride from Skagway to Haines, Alaska. From there, we met our guide Ashley who took us to several spots along the river where wildlife spotting often occurs. We saw several bald eagles along the way. We also were able to watch a mama brown bear and her 2 cubs fishing for salmon.... More

The tour starts with a 40-50 minute boat ride to Haines. We boarded the shuttle & were taken to see eagles. The guide set up a powerful telescope that allowed us to see the young eagles up close. As we watched, a parent eagle caught a fish & proceeded to take the eagle to its nest. It was fun to... More

Was very much looking forward to this excursion from all the items on our Alaska land and cruise trip. The potential to see brown bears was the draw. Although we seemed to hit the salmon run we did not see any bears. We did see an eagle and nest. The guides were good - and I fully understand they cannot... More

My goal for our Alaskan cruise was to see as many bears as possible. Sadly, we didn't see them here, but we did see bear poop. I might have been excited. We saw tons of bald eagles, salmon jumping out of the water, a seal, and a few other forms of wildlife. We had one guide who talked about the... More

OK, so you don't really need a guide to hike up Mount Riley, but we didn't know that and didn't have a car to get there anyway. At any rate, our guide, Nick(?), was fantastic. We learned about local plants and wildlife, and also quite a bit about life in Haines. We finished the hike early, so he drove us... More

Delightful people - provided a lot of info over the phone that helped me plan our overall trip to the area. Our guide Ashley was attuned to the pace and conversation of the group and we had an easy 3 hour hike with lunch at the beach. She was quite knowledgeable about the plants and animals in the area. Most... More

Dan picked us up at our hotel at 9 am and then a great day started ! Dan is a former forester and knows everything about trees, plants and animals,so we were very impressed about his knowledge. When we explore the nature around Haines for 7 hours he explained us so many interesting stories about nature, animals and history, that we had the... More

Trip began with Rachel picking us up at the lodge. she was very knowledgable and you could tell she really loved her job. She actually made it seem like we were just out for a leisurely stroll through the park. I would recommend this hike to anybody who wants to learn more about what is edible in the woods and... More
