If coming from Skagway your journey begins with a short walk from the pier...

If coming from Skagway your journey begins with a short walk from the pier where you'll board a high-speed ferry for a 45-minute cruise along North America's longest and deepest fjord to Haines. Enjoy spectacular views and informative commentary from your guide on the wildlife, geology, and beautiful landscape. Watch for whales along the way, as you glide past breathtaking glaciers and cascading waterfalls. Upon arrival in Haines, enjoy a tour of historic Fort Seward before heading to your paddling destination at Chilkoot Lake. This incredible location is home to all five species of Pacific salmon, numerous bald eagles, waterfowl and one of the highest concentrations of brown bears in southeast Alaska! You will be outfitted in the necessary equipment, receive a water-safety briefing, a thorough introduction to kayaking, and then start out onto the water. No previous experience is necessary and the expert guides will quickly make everyone at ease in the kayaks. The triple kayaks are very stable, spacious, and make excellent viewing platforms. Everyone will enjoy the excitement of kayaking in the midst of towering mountains and spectacular scenery. You may also be treated to outstanding bear viewing during the riverside drive to the lake and while paddling. Multiple spawning streams enter the lake and offer frequent bear and eagle sightings. You'll have 1.75 hours to explore by kayak. The location is chosen to provide the best kayaking and wildlife-viewing conditions and there is no better way to fully experience the beauty of Alaska!

The title of the review is the description of the trip given in the catalog. My son and I took this trip as an advance celebration of my 60th birthday. It turned out to be the trip of a lifetime. This particular trip is a 5 day overnight trip in remote areas of the West Arm of Glacier Bay in... More

I booked the Inside Passage Sea Kayaking experience from the Silversea Cruise for my husband and myself. It was an absolute delight and completely worth the expense. (I wonder though, if I could have probably booked it cheaper on my own instead of through the cruise line , but it did involve taking a very scenic ferry ride from our... More

Haines is small and easy to walk around but if you are on a cruise ship and want to see more, the Alaska Mountain Guide excursion is really fun, interesting and a great way to get the feel of the area and residents. We saw the American Bald Eagle foundation, Chilkat Peninsula, Rainbow Glacier, Haines Packing Co. and Fort William... More

We wanted to experience Skagway by staying for several days and zip lining was one of the few things we got to do during our stay. Smitty and Rachel did a great job teaching safety and fun all at the same time. Being the first time me and my husband has ever done this, the energy they had made it... More

We had so much fun on this excursion! We climbed with Reed, Annie, and David. Reed was very patient and encouraging to my teenage daughter! On the first "easy route" she was convinced she could not make it with only a few feet left. Reed coached her and "helped" her and she reached the top!!! After that, she tackled everything.... More

AWSOME day rock climbing in Skagway! From the moment we were met at the ship by our guides Annie and Anna it was the best! Checking in was easy. The ride to the site was fun as Anna gave a bit of a history tour thru town. Once at the site we were out fitted with the proper gear and... More

During our cruise stop in Skagway, we decided to go "zip lining". Since we had a large group (12 people) on a family reunion we wanted to try something we could do together. We hit the jackpot with this adventure. Our guides, Taylor, Sully and Anna, were nothing short of awesome. Made all of us feel very comfortable and their... More

Since we had a couple of days free in Haines, I needed to find ways to fill them. Alaska Mountain Guides offered a Fjords of the Inside Passage and was willing to run it for just the two of us. It was a full day trip, and when we finished with a bit of extra time, our delightful guide ran... More

When my daughter said let's go rock climbing I said great. Neither one of us hd any experience climbing. We were picked up by the docks and escorted to the site via a van. When seeing the actual wall my daughter, who is 8, was a bit intimidated. Aaron did a great job explaining the techniques. He made sure my... More

My nine family members ranging from age 11-70 scheduled this hike excursion on our stop in Skagway. At times it was steep but thank goodness for our wonderful guides; Andrew, Zimba and Ken. They were awesome and very helpful during the hike. At times it got pretty steep but they were constantly watching out for our wellbeing. The views were... More
