About Takshanuk Mountain Trail by 4x4
The Takshanuk Mountain Trail puts you up close and personal with raw Alaskan wilderness. If you're looking for an activity that is a little more hands-on, hop into a Kawasaki Mule utility vehicle for a tour that climbs 1,500 feet through lush Alaskan forest. With a guide leading the way, you'll pass over meandering mountain streams and cruise past back country waterfalls, stopping along the way to enjoy crisp mountain air and snap lots of photos. You'll certainly want your camera handy when you reach the top of the trail because a magnificent overlook area provides a stunning view of Chilkoot Lake and the Upper Lynn Canal, North America's longest and deepest fjord. To cap off the experience you'll be treated to fresh baked cookies and our famous beer-battered halibut and roasted chicken meal at our exclusive mountain lodge.

My wife and two other couples took this attraction. Even though the weather was pretty bad we were able to complete the trip and was treated very professionally by the people who operate this attraction. Overall this was a good choice.

I was a little nervous the night before. Even though I was raised in a rural hilly area, I had never ridden a 4x4 or a mule. I knew there were switchbacks on this trip. But, the guide took it slow and easy. My husband...More

Very laid back tour in the 4x4. Excellent views all the way up the mountain and a couple of stops for pictures. Good dinner served with the best halibut.

One of the best activities we did during our Canada / Alaska holiday - highly recommended. Didn't realise we would actually be driving the 4x4 which was a bit like a motorised golf buggy - great fun.

You should be able to. I believe the train will pick up and drop off where your ship is docked. 11:30 is the meet time and the fast ferry that transfers you to Haines departs at 12pm. I hope this helps! Let me know if you... More

Hello & thanks for your question. The trails are narrower than what you would find on the road, but wider than a hiking trail. It gains 1500 feet in elevation and includes stops along the way for photos with panorama views... More
