We didn't know what to expect when we stopped here. We just started walking and walking up and up the trail. And found some beautiful water/falls and scenery. It was a pleasant surprise! There was no one else here as it is the off season....More
Told by friends to make sure we stopped and we are so glad we did. It is a beautiful waterfall, peaceful, tucked away in the mountain. You would have no idea that such beauty was so close to the highway. Don't pass up the chance...More
We flew into Anchorage a few days before our cruise left Seward & did the Turnagain Arm Drive & the Portage Valley drive (which can both be found on alaska.org) - not sure if I can put a hyper link here.
There is plenty of...More
I took a nice hike on the Turnaround Trail starting at McHugh Creek Recreational Area yesterday. The trail climbs for a few hundred feet before running along the ridge above the Turnaround Arm of Cook Inlet. It is a nice hike with beautiful views and...More
Was there twenty years ago in July, first stop south of Anchorage on the way to Homer, great hour stop over, saw and photographed a few mountain rams there, jumping from rock to rock, and other wildlife...the mountain rams made my day and great photos...More
Very pretty area. There's a waterfall, hiking trails, restrooms & picnic tables. My brother who lives in Anchorage took my grandson and I for a hike along a trail, it was so serene, lush and beautiful.
This was a nice stop along the turnagain arm. We love waterfalls so it was a must stop for us. The slight climb to the overview was easy and offered a very beautiful panoramic. We didn't hike much of the trail itself because it started...More
This stop my family really enjoyed. From the easy hikes, the picturesque views of Turnagain and the mountains to the babbling creek we ended up spending a lot more time here than I anticipated. It was also clean but the bathroom facilities needed a little...More

There is a parking lot that is free and a parking lot that requires a fee. You can park in the free parking lot and go. You can spend as much time as you wish to. You can see a lot of great views in just a short time from the general parking area. Also you can walk the trails which also have stopping places where you see a great distance and some great views, and some places on the trails you can only see trees. If offers great scenery and you can see a lot in a few minutes, or see much more as you walk the trails.
