We signed up for the Spencer Lake kayak and glacier hike and although we got a bit of rain at the start, it was one of the most incredible experiences of our lives. Our tour guide, Ryan, was not only one of the coolest people we met during our trip to Alaska, but he clearly prioritized safety, was patient, professional,... More

My 19 year old niece and I kayaked out to Spencer Glacier with Ascending Path and hiked on the glacier, itself. Our guide, Ryan, took the time to be sure we were safe and explained about the geology of glaciers while we were taking in all the beautiful scenery. We were able to go inside a couple of caves and... More

We were fortunate enough to have a 2-person/1-guide trip up to the Alyeska Glacier last week with Jonathan. He was a terrific guide for me and my 11-year-old son; the whole experience was amazing - we roped up as if we were mountain climbing, walked out onto the glacier, and got to experience a really unique adventure. Just turning around... More

Ascending path is the BEST. Incredible customer service. Matt and Ryan were the greatest! So fun, personable, and inspiring!! Knowledgeable. Helped our 19 year old daughter conquere her fear of caves. She was so comfortable with them she took the plunge into the moulin!! A huge accomplishment for her. It has awaken a whole new world for her. Never can... More

Took the guided walk for 5 miles and learned all about the nature surrounding it. It was an easy walk and if the flies would have left us alone it would have been perfect!

Starting at the train station in Anchorage, we headed North along the coast. The views of the train are impressive to say the least. The train stops if it sees wildlife for photo opportunities. A narrator describes various points of interest, and answers questions along the way. It also makes a few other stops on the way to our final... More

Hi Liz, Yes a long and hopefully memorable day! The only way to make it shorter is a heli pickup or starting from Girdwood. We are also working with the Alaska Railroad for a morning train stop for the future. Thank you for the kind words and nice review! More

When we were planning our trip to Alaska, I tried to locate activities to do in the various areas that we visited. I saw the information on Ascending Paths and called them wanting to ask questions about the hike. I spoke to Matt and he was very helpful. He answered all of my questions and said that he felt confident... More

This tour was awesome. Meet our guide Ryan at the Alyeska Resort at noon and, after filling out the paper work, we headed to the Portage Train Station. We then boarded the train for a 20 minute ride to the Spencer Whistle Stop and given a nice boxed lunch. We then had a short van ride to our Kayaks. Ascending... More

I did the Spencer Glacier kayak & hike on what was a spectacular day weather wise. Mother nature came to the party with a gentle breeze, smooth water and sunshine! The kayaking portion was amazing. There were some out of this world chunks of ice floating in the lake and as we approached we saw some calving's resulting in nice... More
