Glacier Trek & Iceberg Raft/Kayak

Paddle up to Spencer Glacier via raft/kayak and venture out onto the ice for a Glacier Trek exploring moulins, blue pools, crevasses and more. Access onto Spencer Glacier is always changing. We will explore as much of the glacier as possible and take you onto the ice as access allows. For 2019, we utilized rafts to get onto Spencer Glacier. For 2020, we won’t know our access point until the season starts in May 2020. This is an awesome full day adventure tour that will incorporate exploration around Spencer Glacier Lake with an amazing trek on Spencer Glacier using ice crampons.

Access in 2019 was by raft & so we utilized both kayaks & rafts for each group with 2 guides per group. This trip is suitable for all ages, as guests not comfortable paddling kayaks can go in a raft. Rafts are powered by a guide rowing, but kayaks are paddled by guests.

Round trip AK Railroad train tickets on the Alaska Railroad's Coastal Classic train included in the cost of this trip.

Worked with Ari and Corey to plan an epic engagement proposal atop Spencer Glacier, as part of a private Heli-Hiking tour. Working with these guys was an extremely easy process. They are very knowledgeable about the area, had great ideas and recommendations in terms of routes and weather (Fall can get dicey in Alaska!), and were very transparent about everything throughout the process. 10/10 would recommend Chugach Adventures to anyone visiting Alaska - they will take care of you 100%

We came the end of August during Covid restrictions and this company was super nice and helpful about everything with all the uncertainties with having to covid test three days prior to arriving in AK etc. this was a wonderful trip from the train ride to the glacier raft and hike. The guides were super in every way. We learned so much about glaciers etc. and they made it so fun. Highly recommend doing this. We are late 50’s and in. good shape and rafted:). The hike is easy and you get great views of the glacier. The hot chocolate is great especially outside next to a glacier :)

Highlight of our trip to Alaska! This tour encompasses the Alaskan Railroad, kayaking rafting, hiking with crampons on a massive glacier, and hiking on the "beach". Our guide, Stuart, was extremely knowledgable in all things Alaskan wilderness and outdoor adventures. Highly recommended!

I did this on August 14, 2020 and it was a blast. Honestly, this was probably like the main highlight in Anchorage for me. There was a total of 4 of us including me in the group and we were all active so that we could cover ground with ease across Spencer Lake. The tour guide we had did phenomenal and I appreciate the hospitality from our guy packing water and drink mixes into our kayaks to having a full blown lunch afterwards. I would recommend anyone that is active and wants to do something adventurous in Alaska to definitely take this up!!

Great Tour! Guides were friendly, experienced and knowledgeable. They're even good photographers, which means you can have great pictures of your adventure without having to manage your camera and kayak at the same time!
