About
Girdwood ATV Tour There are no road signs marking the entrance to this part of the Chugach State Park. Most locals don’t even know about this wild scenic area. Adventure seekers do not need to travel many miles out of town searching for a true Alaskan backcountry riding experience. Alaska ATV Adventures focuses on small groups, providing excellent wildlife viewing and unrivaled scenery accompanying a ride specifically tailored to the group. This awesome trail winds through the northern reaches of the Pacific Coastal Temperate Rainforest about ½ way between Anchorage and Girdwood. The Girdwood 3-hour tour includes a hike downhill to spectacular waterfall where salmon come to spawn mid-June through September; during this time there is a very good chance of seeing bears from the overlook and high alpine meadows. Tours Depart Daily: 10:00AM April 23rd - May 24th, 2017 10:00AM and 2:00PM May 25th - September 30th, 2017

We rode with Bob as our tour guide and I cannot say enough good things about our time with him. He went out of his way to try to ensure we saw wildlife and our tour was even longer than scheduled for us to have a greater chance (he confirmed no one was on a time crunch.) Not only did we have a ton of fun riding but we also hiked to see a waterfall and an amazing view of the mountains. I should also mention that Bob is an expert photographer and took some amazing pictures of our family together. Don’t miss this!

This was by far the best ATV adventure We’ve ever had! Starting with Brad who picked us up at the hotel. He was VERY knowledgeable of the area so we felt as though we got a great mini sightseeing tour as a bonus while making our way to base camp to start the ATV ride!

After gearing up and getting familiar with the ATVs, off we went! The trail was absolutely thrilling! Not for the faint of heart!

We loved the stops along the way to see spawning salmon, waterfalls, mountains, fresh bear tracks and the relic old 1964 Ford Mustang (I may have the year wrong), that some hippies back in the day crashed and left on the woods. Maybe it was “4:20” at the joint…in the woods! Smile!

We’ve taken ATV rides in Alaska before, and in the North Georgia mountains, Belize, and Dominican Republic when traveling on vacation. Alaska ATV Adventures was the BEST we’ve experienced! Highly recommend…but only if you think strongly that you can handle it. It’s thrilling!

My husband and I recently went on an ATV trip with Alaska ATV Adventures. We both LOVED it. From the moment we arrived, the guides Tim, Brad and Kayla Sue were so welcoming and full of information about the area. After a brief run down of the ATVs we were off. The scenery is spectacular and Tim was incredible at finding tracks and showing us the area. We saw some Dall sheep and bear and moose tracks. I would take this trip every time I came to Alaska. You never know what you’ll see! Thank you Tim, Brad and Kayla Sue for an incredible time!

We had a great time riding in the forest. So much fun! We would definitely do this again! The only drawback was that our ride was supposed to be 3 hours. However, our guide took us on a hike down to a river which took over an hour of our ride time. Though the waterfall was beautiful, I was not expecting a climb or a shortened ride. Other than that, it was a good time!

Oftentimes a tour guide can make or break your tour. In this case, it made it. Bob was a super awesome guide and a kind man. He was super knowledgeable of the area and made the experience fun for everyone in our group. He is a skilled photographer and videographer as well!

My adult daughter, husband and I went on this adventure in September of 2020 during the COVID pandemic. This was by far the best time we had in the 2 weeks in Alaska. The ATVs were in perfect working order and the guide very knowledgeable. It was the perfect mixture of thrilling without being terrifying. We were all novices and after this experience we will be doing more ATVing.

Bob was a wonderful guide for our ride! The ride was absolutely gorgeous and scenic at every turn! The hike down (then back up) to the waterfall was stunning, but a little difficult (think roots and steep inclines for a short length). Nevertheless it was totally worth it! We got to see salmon down at the base of the waterfall and Bob made sure we all got pictures taken, so sweet! We stopped several times to look at bears on the mountains, he set up his scope for us and we got to see them up high. Such a treat! Highly recommend!

We did this tour this morning as it was amazing and so much fun. Our tour guide Jake was awesome. He explained the quad, safety and terrain. He was also so patient with the lesser experienced riders. Be prepared to get wet. Tons of “puddles” and when I say puddles, I mean small lakes. With that being said, blasting through them was so much fun. It was sunny on our tour and warmed up pretty quick. Dress in layers and peel back when necessary. We stopped to check out a river and could see the silvers swimming as well as hiked down to a waterfall which was stunning. I highly recommend this tour. Even for someone with some riding experience, it was still fun. Thank you Jake for a great morning.

Our party of 5 (ages 17 to 55) had a fantastic time with Bob as our guide. He helped us create the adventure we were hoping for in a safe, beautiful and exciting environment.

We were new to ATV's and Bob was an excellent tutor. He took great photos as well and took us on a hike that was unforgettable. You can tell he's a pro and knows the geography like the back of his hand. We had 2 other people in our group that we got to know which was fun, and they had toured with Bob 4 other times b/c it's just that fun!

My husband and I booked an ATV tour through the Chugach State Park during our visit to Girdwood. Bob was our guide and did a marvelous job! Bob is extremely knowledgeable about the area and goes out of his way to ensure a good time. He is very personable and knows where to find the bears! We saw two black bear and one Grizzly down by the river. Bob will also ensure you capture just the right photo for the memory book!
