Just WOW; what an adventure! I encourage you to book this trip; you will not regret it! When our charter flight landed on the ice runway I was in awe. Eagle’s scenery is picturesque, and you’ll have a hard time putting your camera down (bring plenty of batteries because they don’t last long in the cold!). Deb and Greg, our guides, were amazing. They set us up with our gear and quickly threw us into the action with a snowmobile ride out to the homestead. There we met Scarlett and Wayne who made us feel welcomed in their home instantly. We warmed up with some hot coco and Scarlett’s infamous salmon jerky that I will be craving for a long time to come. You can sense the love and pride for the dogs, which are such incredible athletes. We were setup with a dog team, and while I was nervous at first I became more confident each day. Deb gave invaluable advice and encouragement and by day three I was able to jump from standing on one side of the sled to the other, climb and fly down hills without holding my breath too much. I was surprised how quickly we built bonds with everyone on the homestead and the dogs themselves. This journey had everything – adventure, thrill, breathtaking nature, wonderful new connections with people, dogs (for my dog lovers – must I say more), and a window into a whole new way of life. There is a beautiful cadence to life on the homestead that is difficult to describe, but it is one that I will miss very much as I return to “normal life.” This is not just a trip; it is an experience of a lifetime!

Claudia, you and Adrial were warm and wonderful clients and friends. Sharing our world with you was a pleasure. Being able to see how you advanced from a nervous beginner to a much more confident musher made it all worth while. For others to see our connection to our canine family is very important. They are the loves in our lives and bring much joy to us and others.

If you're reading this, just book it. Wayne and Scarlett (and Jake and Deb and Greg) flipped our lives upside down in less than a week - showing us an incredible experience and teaching us what really matters in life. I researched a bunch of Alaskan sled dog adventures, this one was the best on paper, and rightfully so. If you want to sit in a sled like a tourist, stay in Fairbanks. If you want remote, rugged adventure unlike anything else in your life, make the trip to Wayne and Scarlett and leave with stories that will make everybody else in your life wish they were you. Out at the homestead, you build fast, strong relationships with humans and dogs. Wayne and Scarlett are professionals in every sense, and have somehow mastered inviting you into their space and making you feel instantly comfortable and at home. After you fall in love with them, you then fall in love with your dogs. These boys and girls love to run, and mushing them 25 miles on a frozen Yukon river with moose, lynx, and caribou tracks all around you

Hi Dan, Thank you for the wonderful words! We so enjoyed the laughs and talks we shared. So very happy that you have left with memories and stories to tell. The dogs are so much a part of our lives that we don't know what we would do without them and want to share that experience with anyone that we can. Take Care, Scarlett

I just spent a week making memories of a lifetime with BUSH ALASKA EXPEDITIONS. Wayne and Scarlett welcomed me in their home sharing with me their way of life in the bush with joy and transparency. Their love for the dogs is contagious, and it is transmitted in a very natural way, caring for the dogs side by side, discussing their needs, giving them affection, making me an integral part of the kennel’s dynamics while visiting. Having my own dog team to care for was particularly rewarding, as I got to know each dog with their specific personality traits and eccentricities – I grew so fond of them it was hard to leave! The days spent on the trail were magical, as my guide Greg poured knowledge of the wilderness into me in an unassuming way: tracking animals, reading the river’s ice, making fires out of thin air, setting up camp… he truly is at home and in his element on the trail, he inspired confidence and his joy was contagious. I end this week not only renewed, but grown, and extremely thankful. I hope to make this a yearly trip!

Hi Aline, It is so wonderful to hear from you and that you did indeed leave with memories for a lifetime. To hear (in your email) that you have already applied what you have learned and are now mushing your own team 5 and 10 miles and have gained the confidence to spread out into your remote area of Alaska without fear. We will look forward to seeing you anytime. Take Care, Scarlett

My dog sled expedition through the vast Yukon Wilderness was by far the most epic and awe-inspiring adventure of my life so far. From mushing some of the finest dogs on the planet across frozen rivers, through mountainous canyons and dense forests, to becoming an integral part & leader of my Alaskan Husky team, this exhilarating journey was full of passion, commitment, adventure, challenge, and of course, lots of joy and laughter. From the moment my plane touched down in Eagle to the bittersweet goodbyes, I never once felt like a guest, rather, I was true family. Wayne, Scarlett, Greg, Deb, Michelle, Steve, and the dogs, all welcomed me with open arms and open minds, encouraging and motivating me to dive deep into the Alaskan Bush life, and that’s exactly what I did. Over the course of the trip, not only did I gain immense knowledge about dog sledding, living off the land, and survival, I gained perspective. I earned perspective. Whether it was 60 below zero temperatures, crashing through trees, falling through ice, or simply having no communication with the outside world I am so accustomed to, I was challenged to find the perseverance within me to complete this journey. As the most raw and primal form of self, deeply embedded in the most unforgiving, raw environment Mother Nature could offer, my soul was made more pure, my heart more whole, and my mind more clear and fine-tuned than ever before. Thank you Wayne. Thank you Scarlett. Thank you Greg. And most certainly, Thank You Alaska.

Thank You! Our life is, for me, a dream and it is wonderful to get to share a bit of that dream. You had some of the best Alaska can offer and some of the harshest, with the cold temperatures and you excelled in the experience. We enjoyed your time with us and the talks we had. It is a wonderful thing to get to learn about someone else's life on a quiet winter evening. May all your future adventures be as good!
