I recently went on a dog sledding tour with Bush Alaska Expeditions, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. They were professional and knowledgeable, and their love and care for the dogs was evident. The dogs were well-trained and enthusiastic, and they clearly enjoyed their work. The scenery was breathtaking and the experience of gliding through the snow behind a team of dogs was exhilarating. The tour was well-organized, and the equipment provided was top-notch. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an authentic Alaskan adventure

Honestly difficult to find words for how genuinely amazing and legit this trip was. Was on the hunt for a challenge and a fully new experience and this did not disappoint one bit. The fact that you get to 100% learn the ins and outs of mushing, go on real expeditions far into the back country, take care of an spend loads of time with the dogs all while being right next to the beautifully frozen over Yukon river is not the type of experience you find easily. Wayne and Scarlett are both amazing hosts and storytellers, never a dull moment shared with them. Getting to meet and hang out with Greg was always a great time and we more than lucked out with having Deb guide us and give us an absolutely killer experience. And lastly if you’re looking to see the northern lights you’re most likely in for a treat each cold and clear night spent here.

It was such a pleasure spending time with you and your dad. We are so glad that you had a wonderful time and that the northern lights graced the sky for you to see and experience. The dogs love to run and we love to let them. Take Care

If you have begun to research Bush Alaska Expeditions and are wondering what to do then keep reading…

To say that this was a unique adventure for my son and I would be a tremendous understatement. It would be more accurate to say that it’s actually unbelievably that in a homogenized world of canned, touristy options that something like this exists!!

Is it rough and ready? Is it physically challenging? Is it exciting? Yes! Yes! And Yes!

But it’s also an opportunity to connect with truly exceptional people like the owners Wayne and Scarlet as well as our amazing guide Deb. You will be impressed with these folks and the stories you may be lucky enough to hear of lives that are filled with adventure, passion, danger, perseverance, and excitement!

And then there’s the dogs! These amazing athletes of the frozen tundra will impress you to no end! Their excitement about what they do is so fantastic to see! And man are they fun to play with! Your little wolf like buddies are the best! Even if you can’t remember all their names. ;-)

Will it be cold? Will I have to do some work? Is it a bit scary at times? Yes, yes, and yes again.

But if you go you will not regret it and you will certainly be left with a memory that will last a lifetime…

So quit messing around and start booking your adventure!

I would highly recommend Bush Alaska for anyone who wants to experience something unique, fun and sometimes challenging.
My wife and I went on a week long dogsledding trip and were amazed by the scenery, and felt like we were truly in the wilderness. Both Wayne and Scarlett and the guides Greg and Jake went out of their way to ensure we had an amazing experience that was well tailored to our skill level and interests.
The main highlight for us (as we are both animal lovers) was witnessing the close relationships between the crew and their dogs. Being able to meet all the of the dogs ourselves, hearing about their individual traits, and fostering our own relationships with the dogs that became part of our sledding team was great.
Missing the place already!

It is difficult to put into words how unique of an experience Bush Alaska Expeditions is. Going off the grid and experiencing the elements was something I had never done before--I was open to it but did not know what to expect. Whatever expectations I had going in were completely blown away as soon as my mom and I got to Wayne and Scarlett's. They were immediately inviting and friendly, sharing their knowledge and stories about their lives. The dogs, however, were definitely the stars of the show. They are all so friendly and loved, Wayne and Scarlett do a wonderful job of training them to be competent in mushing, and also lovable dogs. All of the dogs had such adorable, unique personalities--it is easy to get attached! Mushing was a one of a kind experience. This is not a tourist attraction in the best possible way. When you go to Bush Alaska, you are doing the work and hands on mushing. It is such a wonderful time, especially if you are a fan of the outdoors. Our guide, Jake, was amazing. He competently taught my mom and I how to mush and do chores around the camp. Not only is he extremely good at what he does, but he is also a very nice person. We spent two nights at a cabin away from the homestead--I would highly recommend doing these short trips. We mushed about 22 miles to the cabin and saw so much unique topography in the land. The cabin was beautiful. My favorite part was having the dogs in the cabin though! Overall, the trip was phenomenal. It was a pleasure getting to know Scarlett, Wayne, and Jake. As someone who is in college, it was really nice to get wise takes on life as I decide what I want to do with my own life. This trip was unforgettable and unique. If you love beautiful dogs, amazing views, and good people, definitely come to Bush Alaska.

If you're looking for an unforgettable adventure that everyone will ask you about for the rest of your life - this is it!

Mushing my own dog team on a multi day trip in the Alaskan wilderness was my childhood dream since I read Jack London's books. And I got exactly what I expected.

Other than the constraints of weather, trail conditions, and safety, all I wanted to include on this trip was perfect. Scarlett, Wayne, Greg, and Jake did everything to train me and accommodate my ideal trip. We camped outside, dug our own snow cave for the night, opened new trails in areas no one visited for months, mushed across frozen lakes and rivers, clear ice and deep snow, down the hill and up the hill, fell, got up, managed the dogs completely independently, stayed at self build wooden cabins in the middle of nowhere - absolutely perfect! The food was much more than I had expected which was a great surpsire.

They follow good safety procedures and carry two sattalite communication devices just in case. They also send a daily check to let Scarlett and Wayne at the homestead know we're safe. They can provide you with the equipment you need. The boots I got kept me completely isolated from the elements.

Another great experience for me was living the remote wooden cabin life. It was a first time for me and it was incredible. You gotta try the sauna! I stayed with them for 7 full days and it was the perfect amount of time given the trail conditions. If there was less snow and trails were better, I'd stay longer.

All in all, I highly recommend this experience. Come prepared for a real adventure!

Words and photos cannot describe the amazing experience I had with Bush Alaska Expeditions Dog Sled Tours! The majestic beauty of remote bush Alaska, the incredible athleticism and sweetness of the dogs, and the warm and welcoming hospitality of Wayne, Scarlett and our guide Jake made for an unforgettable trip. While the mushing was a huge part of the experience, it was so much more as we were immersed in all aspects of the day to day life there living and thriving off the grid. I learned so much and loved hearing Wayne and Scarlett's stories about their experiences. What a beautiful life they live! And the dogs - they were definitely the stars of the tour! It was hard to say goodbye and I can't wait to return!!

Wow where do I start. As an adventure addict, traveler, and field influencer this was the most fun I have ever had in my life! Greg was our guide and we could not have clicked any more better! The cabins and all the accommodations are what you’d expect for off the grid living but Scarlett and Wayne have made it so comfortable.

We did a few night over stays out in some far out cabins. We got really really good at sledding by the 2nd day and we were happy to do some of the more advanced trails later in the week! We did a 7 day stay and that time was perfect!!

We will be back for sure either this next winter or another.
