Completely unexpected pleasure. A local resident walking his dog told us how the community is coming together to ensure the history of this incredible place is not lost. To think that at the turn of the last century, the largest gold mine was built there...More

The forest has reclaimed it leaving on hints of its former glory. Easy hike. Can do as much or as little as you want and still feel impressed. Almost like a video game so vibrant and yet a hint of spooky.

We loved seeing all the actual mine equipment left in it's original state, and the signs are very informative without putting you to sleep. Nice trails, and the beach is nice, too.

I love going to Treadwell. It's a great place to walk the dog or go with the family. It's well taken care of and you learn the history of the mine

I like the information boards along the way, that give us an idea of what the place looked like back in the days of mining. This is an easy stroll or you can make it a strenuous run, the walk back along the beach with...More

We started the self-tour at Sandy Beach, which is not the official starting point, but it worked for us. We walked the wide paved path in the woods next to the beach and the placards were succinct and effectively highlighted the ruins from the Treadwell...More
