Beautiful location, with snow caped mountains, ice fields and glaciers with Prince William Sound as an extra.

The hidden gem of Cordova! Well marked trails, scenic beauty and peace. We found the highways through the Forrest very well maintained all through the drive from Anchorage to the Kenai Penninsula!

Somehow, It is totally absent in the list of Cordova's attractions. May be, because it can easily compete with other glaciers in the area, and access to the glacier is absolutely free for tourists. Take a Sheridan Glacier side road from Copper River highway-left, till the parking area. Take a trail to the glacier. The glacier lake+icebergs view is gorgeous.... More

The friendly front desk at Orca Adventure Lodge had a list of all the hikes in the area. When we pressed him for a recommended hike he said his fav. was Heney Ridge Trail. So we did it. I highly recommend it because the first part is in thru a mossy rain forest that is so Japanese looking. The upper... More

I love this forest! Great hiking and fishing, and opportunities to see wildlife in their natural habitat abound! Just remember, the animals are WILD and should never be approached, unlike some people do at other national forests or parks where they are more accustomed to people.

Chugach State Park is a recreational wonderland; the park holds some of Alaska’s most accessible camping, hiking and climbing. A lot of animals, such eagles, moose, grizzly bears, wolves and lynx can be spotted. Explorers will find more than 50 glaciers waiting inside the park. Go there

We did a 8.5 mile (roundtrip) overnight backpacking trip from the Power Creek Trailhead to Power Creek Cabin. The hike was moderate. The trail was in pretty good shape in most spots, but it had two precarious segments, one a potential rock slide waiting to happen about a mile in from the trailhead before the switchbacks. The other tricky part... More

We drove through this area on our way between Anchorage and Seward, and it is beautiful. We stopped at the Trail River Campground for an afternoon picnic. There are camp sites as well as day-use sites. In the area where the day-use sites are, there are toilets and bear-proof trash cans in the parking area. There are several sites along... More
