The area hadn't been cleaned, there was rubbish. Of course not much atmosphere as they hadn't had enough rain recently. We did meet the volunteers walking the dogs from the SPCA. It was sad to see that it was expats and foreigners, not the locals.

It was a enjoyable and relaxing walk through the bush listening to the birds and watching the butterflies. There was a trickle of water and the swimming hole water was of better quality than what I have seen in a number of places in NZ. Beautiful, quiet spot.

This was the finishing line for our cross island trek and after a tough 3 hours, I was hanging out for a cool dip.
Imagine my disappointment when all that greeted us was a brown pool that had no water running into it.
Not sure I would have let my dog swim in it and the mozzies had a feast with our daughter
Unless there’s been some serious rainfall, I’d be giving this place a miss

Perhaps it was the time of year we visited however this waterfall was very underwhelming. Arriving prepared with towels and ready for a swim - there was little water coming down the waterfall and the water in the pool was stagnant.
Perhaps check with the locals at your resort first if it’s worth a trip - doesn’t take long to get there anyway - road is right next to the derelict Sheraton site and you pass the SPCA so the drive was fine

Cycled here from our villa, great off road cycle-easy distance. Apparently in summer mosquito repellent is a must!

Small waterfall, worth a quick visit particularly if there is a bit of rain around and the water is flowing hard. Watch out for mozzie though!!

First time to the waterfalls, and they were lovely. Although I felt a little disappointed at the litter and mess left by visitors. The whole area could do with a tidy up however the water was cool, the kids had a ball and it felt nice to be in lush bush with lots of butterflies! Make sure you take your bug spray, mossies are rife up there!

We loved the waterfall, ended up spending many hours swimming in the lovely cool water. Kids loved jumping in off the sides, great fun! There’s lots of butterflies around too. There are also however, a lot of mosquitos, so take your bug spray. Ensure you clean up after yourself too, keep it nice for everyone!

A lovely spot for a swim especially after walking across the island but unfortunately marred by litter surrounding the area. We cleaned it up ourselves.

Lovely refreshing swim here, perfect after a cross island hike. Unfortunately there was a lot of rubbish on the ground and heaps of mosquitos too (as you would expect in a jungle area). Definitely a highlight to clean off here after the mud buggy tour
