We had a big time constraint for our visit to Huahine. Romain has adapted to us to make us discover the most beautiful spots of the island, its history, its fauna and its flora.
He knew how to transmit with passion his love for Huahine and its inhabitants.

My wife and I, along with our two friends, arrived in Huahine onboard our Windstar cruise and were greeted by Dubus Romain at the dock. He's a French expat living on the Island for 28 years, obviously loving the slower life of peace amongst the lush, green hills. Talk about getting back to Nature! He proudly drove us all around, speaking about the history and ecology of a paradise lost in time. We enjoyed looking deep into the eyes of blue eyed eels and walking through a primeval forest, past stone altars and a huge Banyan tree high on the hill. We finished our private tour at a lovely little resort on a beautiful, sandy beach. Lunch and great snorkeling were the perfect ending to a sweet tour. Bravo Romain.

We took a tour of Huahine with Romain, it was very interesting. He spoke to us about the history of Polynesia and the island as well as botany, fruits, seasons... In addition, he is a friendly, pleasant person who answers all our questions and takes his time to satisfy his customers ! I highly recommend it if you are passing through the island!

This was a fantastic tour of the island. Romain is very well versed in the history of the island, as well as the plants, their medicinal uses and how the locals really live. His English is excellent. We felt we were being given a tour by an old friend, not just someone we had so recently met. 5 stars is not really a high enough rating.

Green Tours is really a one-man show run by Romain, a Frenchman who has lived on the island for 27 years. We choose this company because it offered the same kind of tour that the Paul Gauguin Cruise ship did, but at half the cost.
Romain, the operator picked us up at the Wharf when we got off the ship. He took the four of us on a four hour tour around the island, stopping at all the the sites Romain felt were the places we should see to know and understand the island and its people (including all the sites noted in the Paul Gauguin tour).
The four of us had a wonderful experience. The truck Romain has is more spacious and comfy that similar outfits. But the guide makes all the difference. Romain was terrific. As a foreigner who has made Huahine his home, he has learned volumes about the island and the people and it was a joy to hear all the information he had to share. Overall, a terrific tour.
Note that if you use Trip advisor, Green Tours is not higher up the tour ladder. This is because Romain has not been doing tours of this island as long as others have but being down the list only makes this a hidden gem. Romain’s tour is unlikely to be matched, more likely to have fewer people on the truck with you (our group of 4 were the only guests on our day which made for essentially a private tour) and the cost is also probably less than the others.

Also , you got many answers because if my memory is good , you love questions !Thank you for that again , it is much more easy for a guide when people participate a lot !
About the Gauguin , I used to work for the two compagnies you got on the ship(I was not owner of my activity , just a guide),I'm much more chip because i'm a freelance tour but if tou look to the website of those compagnies , the public rate is the same than me!

6 of us (3 couples) hired Romain for a full-day (cruise ship Tour). Romain was an excellent tour guide. His knowledge of the Island of Huahine, the history, nature, culture and people was amazing. Romain originally from France spoke very good English. He met us promptly on time adjacent to the pier. Romains pickup truck is outfitting with padded bench seats on each side of the pickup bed. He has plastic rain tarps that can be rolled up or down as needed (i.e. rain). Romain has a very strong passion for the Island and wants to openly share with you as much as he can. He brought us to several hill top locations for great views of the islands and Bays, creek with sacred eels (with blue eyes), fish traps, vanilla plantation, historic temples, coral beach. In the early afternoon we arrived at Avea Bay and ate a delicious lunch at Hotel Le Mahana. After lunch we snorkeled in Avea Bay just off the beach and dock. Snorkeling was excellent, many different fish species and abundant coral. Romain then drove us along the coastline back to the pier. This was a very informative and relaxing tour. Great mix of culture and relaxation. Would certainly do it again if/when we have the opportunity.

We were on Huahine and did Romaine's tour March 27, 2022. This tour is probably one of the best tours I have ever been on ever and I have been on countless tours.
Romaine is so knowledgeable and passionate about the place that became his home over 25 years ago. We visited over 10 islands during our month in French Polynesia and went on many tours and he was the only one that actually new or told us about the migration of the people of French Polynesia which was extremely interesting.
If you are interested in naturopathy, Polynesian history and extremely beautiful scenery this is defiantly the tour to take. I can't say enough good things about the tour. Love love loved it!!! It made Huahine my favorite island to visit!

Romaine of Green Tours was graciously available to provide a wonderfully informative 4-wheel drive tour of Huahine, even though it was New Year’s Day and evening though there were only two of us. Of all the tours we took in French Polynesia, Romaine was by far the best guide. He is French and has lived in Huahine for 25 years with very fluent English, which many guides do not have. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, flora and people and gives an ecologically focused tour. We saw everything we wanted to see, the historical marae, blue eyed eels, ancient stone fish traps, vanilla farm, gorgeous vistas, etc. We learned so much and it was thoroughly enjoyable! Highly recommended!

My wife and I spent a lovely and instructive half day with Romain during a historical and botanical tour in Huahine during which we also did a very nice 2 hour walk in the mountain. Romain is a really nice and friendly guide who has a very strong knowledge of Polynesia’s botanics, medicine, history and culture in general. We really had a great time with him and would recommend it to anyone! A must do in Huahine!!!
