Great tour. Wonderful staff. We were able to get into the water and got fairly close to a mother with calf and a third whale. The guide makes sure you are safe and the whales are safe. They do supply snorkeling equipment.

I have literally no words for this experience! It was beyond amazing and I will remember it for the rest of my life. The crew was outstanding and took great care of us. They genuinely cared so much about the whales and they showed just as much joy seeing the mom and her calf as I did. They were careful to point out where to look when things got a little disorienting from all the swimming.

Jumping into the open ocean and swimming was scary but I'm so glad we did it. I was with my 70-year old super hero of a mom and we both were able to do it. You must be a good swimmer...this shouldn't be the first time with a snorkel and you should know how to primarily swim with your fins underwater as they don't want splashing and freestyle swimming.

They have you slide in off the side of the boat and then you swim, quickly, as a group at least 100-200 meters to start but you basically swim to where the whales are and if they move, you move. Once you go in the water there's really no turning back so be sure. My fitbit clocked ~1.5 miles total for the swimming. And this is the ocean...not the lagoon. We could see the bottom a bit when they were resting and then they moved and it was too deep to see it.

There was a mix of swimwear on the boat from wetsuits to what we were wearing which was a swimsuit and a long sleeve swim shirts...it does get cold but you are moving so you stay pretty warm. Swimming in the open water can cause sea sickness so just be aware...it's not fun but the joy of seeing whales up close, in their world, far outweighed the unpleasantness.

Overall this team was amazing to go with. Their joy and excitement made it even more magical. We ended the trip seeing rays, reef sharks and turtles which helped relax us as the adrenaline started coming down.

If you are a good swimmer...do this and do it with this team. They are the best!

We took three whale tours while in Moorea with 3 different operators and this was the most memorable one. Not only did the owner accommodated my last minute ask and found the boat but he also made sure we has the best crew. Rahui is some kind of magician, the sea was super rough, we were with 8yo kid and felt safe all the time, and moreover he made sure we had magnificent encounters! Fully recommend ❤️

What an amazing experience!! Jo + Terai were fantastic with balancing education, respect for the animals (and nature), and meeting client aspirations for the trip. They were such friendly and humorous guides, offering clear instructions and cautions about animal safety.

We were so fortunate in getting to see several pods above water and waiting until the right time to get into the water with them. This tour does require you to be strong swimmers, or at least moderately fast swimmers, so you can get the best views of the humpbacks. If you’re lucky, the humpbacks will be more playful or restful than active, so you can enjoy them better without chasing them. Yesterday (8/31) we were so lucky! We were in the water with whales 3 different times, though I chose not to go on one due to motion sickness, but it was still so amazing to see the whales that closely. There is no better experience than being in the water with them and, being so close to them was the highlight of our trip so far. A lot is based on luck and intense swimming (and pushing through motion sickness) but it was all 100% worth it.

If you don’t have a go pro, a visiting photographer went out with us and took some amazing pictures. She gave us business cards to contact her afterwards to buy her images. Previews of her images were on her social media as well.

This is a must do in Moorea. Vete our guide managed to get us in the perfect spot to see two humpback whales coming out of the blue. Once in a lifetime experience. More importantly our captain Rahui and Vete kept safety as their top priority and managed the situation very calmly when a shark appeared in the water. On top of that we even managed to see a pod of dolphins. 100% recommend as the best company to see whales ethically with, and managed safety risks impeccably.

Moorea Expedition is an exceptional company! The website is easy to navigate, & make bookings. Our Capt/crew (Rahui & Vete) were very thorough explaining the all safety aspects of the boat & engaging with the whales. The photographer (Ms Anna Claire) was very professional & talented with her camera!! The waters off Moorea are truly pristine! Such an amazing experience to witness one of Mother Nature’s greatest inhabitants! Maur

Trip was a fantastic family experience. Due to the perfect weather, the calm of the ocean and the crew we managed with children (3 and 6 yo) to observe and also swim with whales in a safe environment. Joe, Aka, and terai were looking for everyone and everything at every time.
Not any place for unsafe behavior or uncertainty.
It was really a delightful experience

Once in a lifetime experience. crew was amazing, very knowledgeable and friendly. They followed the rules to keep the whales safe and comfortable. Crew tried very hard to spot whales (you will see whales swimming around but to be able to swim near one, they have to be resting). We were able to swim with two different whales with their calf.

You do have to be a strong and experienced swimmer. you will be swimming for more than 100 meters (each way) and you have to swim without splashing water. If you're not a swimmer you can also watch the whales from the boat (you will be seeing a lot of whales)
