Driving around the island on a Saturday we saw this beach. It was very busy and we surmised it must be good. We returned on Monday morning (and every morning for the rest of the week), and found it deserted. It was the beach of my dreams. Warm water teeming with aquatic life. Snorkelling was superb. I saw different fish every day. I collected some exquisite shells. I took about a hundred photos over the week, all of them looking like calendar pictures. Memories of my time on this beach are a highlight of my time on Moorea. I pinky swear, I’ll be back!

This was my second favorite beach after Temae. The park adjacent to the beach is great with lots of trees and palm trees to provide shade. The water is beautiful but not quite as clear as Temae. There is a nice drop off just a little ways off the beach where you can see lots of fish. I saw a turtle one day too. Very calm protected area that is great for swimming.

Right between the two bays, Opunohu and Cook's (a little closer to Openohu). Easy parking along the roadside. Lots of sandy white beach and a great view with sailboats moored. Many local families. We noticed a little "pier" (only like 10' long, concrete steps). Used that and swam out to the right of it. Almost gave up on good snorkeling here (although we did see a ray in the sand) but thank goodness before we went in we swam a bit more toward the other side (I can add pictures - toward Opunohu Bay) there was breathtaking snorkeling - we saw everything you can imagine. Coral heads scattered between sandy stretches shallow enough to stand much of the time, or just maybe 10' deep a lot of the time. Long stretches of bottom coral, too, like a garden. We saw ten times more fish and coral - and KINDS of fish and coral as any dive drip I've ever been on.

First, let me say I’m from an urban area and visited from the U.S. I’m not familiar with the ocean, except for what the marine biologist told me when I was in Bora Bora. I never knew small fish could attack me. Haha! I deserved it though. I entered the cool water on August 11th and noticed the beach had a ton of locals and lots of coral. Must be a great place to snorkel, I thought. As I entered the ocean and started to snap pictures of the fish with my camera, the flash bothered the heck out of one of the fish. It’s called a white banded trigger fish. Does anyone know about this fish behavior? I have taken many pictures of this fish before in Tahiti and Bora Bora, but this one was pissed at me. Actually two of them were angry about the flash. This fish is pretty small and so I didn’t care if it was angry and took another picture. Well, I figured that was that and swam away, but wouldn’t you know I felt something at my foot. I just kept swimming and then I felt a something touch my finger aggressively. This prompted me to turn around in the water (mind you I’m like 2 feet deep, haha) and saw one of the fish charge at me. So there I am…man versus fish. Who will win? Haha! I lost. As I swung at it, it bit me and caused me to bleed on my ring finger. Serves me right. Honestly, this is a great beach to snorkel and despite being traumatized by a fish (just kidding) I still give this place 4.5 out of 5 stars. I recommending bringing your own swimming shoes and NO FLASH with your camera, okay? Like my wife said, maybe someone put rufies in the water…fish on rufies…ahahaaha! Parking is easy on the side of the street, tons of cars and sorry, I didn't see any bathrooms around. Actually, I never saw any bathrooms near any public beaches on Moorea.

Few years ago when we were in Moorea during xmas. We stayed in B&B, walking distance to this beach. We had very good experience of this beach. This Sept, we went back to Moorea by cruise with a nothing to do day. We took a taxi to go back to this beach to do some snorkeling. The beach is quite and not that touristy, There is a shower facility, picnic table and some good shade. The beach has enough coral to explore. Because we went in the afternoon instead of morning, the quantity of fish not as much as few years ago. However, still had enough entertaining and relaxing afternoon. It only costed $40 taxi round trip. If you would like to get off the cruise to do something on your own, it is good place to do. The taxi will come back to pick up as long as you let them know the pick up time.

Nice view, but too much people on Sunday. Narrow beach. A lot of boats ( Marina is close to the beach), so not so romantic.

My husband and I rented bicycles for the day in Moorea. We stopped every so often to take in the view. We did stop at this great little beach! We sat in the shade at a picnic table and rested for awhile.

If we had to do it again we definitely would have brought our bathing suits & a picnic and stayed there all day!

Nice water area, beach size is good for Moorea standards (small/medium size) and there was a parking lot for those of you renting cars!! The parking lot is across from the beach but there is a crosswalk to safely cross over. i think this beach is walking distance from the Hilton.

great snorkelling, beautiful beach, can get busy on sundays as many locals meet for lunch there but then that also adds to the atmosphere, it depends on what you're looking for.

Plenty of parking, beautiful shallow water, good snorkeling. Very few people when we were there. We returned a second time!

We were wary of this beach when we parked because it was so close to boats but the snorkeling was great and the beach was wonderfully maintained. We saw so many sea creatures! It also had a great picnic area, ample parking, and I would say the nicest bathrooms on the island! It was pretty empty on a weekday, just a few other people around.
