After anchoring in Ahiamanu Bay we took the dinghy to go on land. We stopped a passing car and arranged a little tour of the island of Moorea. As always to people were absolutely phantastic friendly and accommodating. We then toured some of the attractions including the Belvedere lookout, a pineapple plantation, a vanilla farm and a liqueur distillery.

We rented a car from Avis rental car and drove around the island. It is a great way to see everything.

If you have the opportunity, this is a must do photo stop. Depending on the time of day and available lighting you can get some potentially frame able shots.

We decided to take the hike up to 3-Coconuts Pass and stopped off at Belvedere en route. The parking area is where the 3 Coconuts path starts. It's quite an easy drive up the mountain to the car parking - a bit winding and narrow in places, but take it slow and easy, and it's no problem. As a scenic... More

Going up to Belvedere lookout is a must if you go to Moorea...its free, easy to find, easy to drive to, and really is an impressive view. You don't necessarily need to go here with any tour company...turn at the base of Opunohu Bay onto the well-marked Belvedere access road. Cars or ATVs or Mopeds are likely the best way... More

Once you grasp the concept you are thousands of miles away from anything you've ever seen, and you realize you are in paradise, then you conceive the notion you are looking at tens of thousands of years of unbelievable beauty and splendor not seen anywhere else in the world. However you get to the top, get there and take as... More

Get there with a excursion or by your own car, but if you stay in Moorea you should get to this point.

After a 5' drive on a narrow but nice and winding road, we arrived to the Belvedere where we could have a nice view (weather permitted) over the bays of Cook and Opunohu split by the mount Rotui. A bit far to clearly see the lagoon colours but still worth the short drive. You can also go thru some mountain... More
