An amazing centre with very knowledgeable staff. A pleasure to visit and very educational. Watching the dolphins 'up close' was a very humbling experience. They are incredible magical animals. The centre is a must to visit on your trip to Moorea.

Shame on them for trapping dolphins for the pleasure of tourists to pet and fondle and get the perfect selfie to brag to friends. There are plenty of excursions that offer encounters with wild and free animals. Big deal, you got into a cage and took pictures enslaved performers. Not exactly the pictures I'd be posting.

Great experience getting in is a little sketchy it’s at a closed hotel so the security guards open gate about 10-15 minutes before your appointment. They are friendly and it’s calm and relaxing exp. Our 5 year old was scared and warmed up but has been extremely excited Amit the two dolphins.
The animals seem happy and well taken care of they only do 2-3 visits a day.

This is an exceptional opportunity to learn about the history of “dolphin aquariums”, how they have evolved throughout the world, and what we now know about how the public’s desire to interact with dolphins can be managed to ensure the health of the dolphins’ environment. This was an informative session which concluded with a display of the dolphins interacting with their trainers. It was enlightening and enchanting to see the dolphins up close.

My husband and I visited the Moorea Dolphin Center during our honeymoon and we loved this experience! The dolphins are smart, fast, and agile, not to mention absolutely adorable! The trainers/guides are knowledgeable and taught us quite a bit about whales and dolphins. Being in the water with these incredible animals only reinforces the need for us to work to understand and protect our animal cousins. This experience was so much fun that I could not stop smiling the entire time (I'm not joking, my face hurt!).
Note that you cannot take your own camera with you into the water, but the team will take your photos for purchase after the experience.

I’m generally not a fan of “performing animals” in captivity and so I was a bit prickly when I saw this at our hotel. However, it was explained that the dolphins were born in captivity and only know that life. I love dolphins and so I accepted the explanation and enjoyed their company

It was fun to watch the dolphins interact with staff and guests. They have names and life facts on each of the dolphins that add considerably to the venue's value. They are incredibly intelligent animals.

We came one afternoon with our kids (eager to interact with the dolphins) from another resort we were staying at. we chose to not book a swim with these dolphins...we felt so bad for them. the enclosure is so small and shallow for 3 majestic animals. we wish they would create much, much more space for them. the sea turtles enclosure was similarly dismal. this whole resort felt depressing and run down/dated. we stayed for lunch and did not enjoy the food.

Fabulous experience, very informative and thrilling! The dolphins are very well cared for. The life expectancy in the wild is approximately 20 years - Kuokoa is 25, Lokahi is also 25 and the female, Hina is 41 years old. Thats proof they are well cared for. Everyone had a hands on experience.

While you were swimming with the dolphins did it bother you that these animals were locked in a prison where they can't leave, can't feed or explore like free mammals?

Yes I really don’t like the fact these dolphins are contained the way they are. The Dorsal fins are bent over which is a sign of distress and depression, dolphins get this from not having enough space to swim and when they are fed on a diet of thawed frozen fish. It pretty much just means they are unhealthy. The dolphin is the most intelligent ocean animal in the world and to spend a life in a small area going around in circles would drive anyone crazy. The tanks are too shallow as well. Oh this really makes my heart sink. It’s just to bring more people to The intercontinental as it gives them an edge over other hotel chains. The “education” and “money” raised is not enough to warrant keeping animals like this in captivity for the joy of Travellers. In this day and age it’s simply not exceptable. Has anyone seen the cove? I mean come on! Sea world and all those places get their dolphins in the worst possible way. I would prefer to die free than spend a life in captivity like that. You would literally lose your mind. Intercontinental was a great hotel with great staff. It doesn’t need this to bring in tourists. The turtle rehab station isn’t a big thumbs up, helping injured wild turtles. It’s great but they completely lost me with the dolphins

I cannot answer that question. Our daughter was too young for that experience. However, I would recommend giving them a call. They are very friendly and speak both French and English.
