We stayed at the Sofitel two nights, and really enjoyed the beach there. The snorkeling is absolutely amazing, and the beach just beautiful. Half the beach is private to the guests at the resort, but it keeps going into a public beach further away from the Sofitel.

This was not our fav beach on Moorea but still worth visiting. The bathrooms have no toilet paper. The beach was not crowded at all which was nice and we brought a picnic lunch. We found lots of ants. The water was very nice but we didn't have great snorkeling, maybe we were in the wrong spot?

This was our last stop on our round the island tour in our little rent car. Beautiful drive-up long, long beach. Beautiful clear and shallow wading for a long way out. What a memory!

Don't be fooled by limited coral near the shore. Swim out about a 100m towards the barrier reef and you'll find amazing coral and fish. Mask, fins and snorkel recommended. Ample parking. Bring a picnic.

One of the best beaches in Moorea, frequented by tourists and locals, with soft white sand and great reefs for snorkeling. Easy to find and plenty of parking space. Not a lot of shade so take hats and/or an umbrella.

Temae Beach is what you think of when someone mentions Tahiti beaches.
Temae Beach is a white-creamy color sand beach with no crowds and beautiful water . I had the beach to myself. Close to the ferry port (8 minute drive from the Sofitel resort hotel to the docks). Clear aqua water. Many coral stones but not too many sea shells. No trash.

Beautiful beach. Reef is beautiful and water is crystal clear. The week we were there though the current was swift. We would get in the water above the beach and allow the current to push us to our room. I hope it is not always like this.

In Tahiti- do not expect white soft Cancun sand. Always wear swim shoes since there is a possible rock fish danger and there are lots of sea shells! This beach, which is right along the Sofitel, is hands down the best beach on Moorea. Unfortunately/Fortunately on Moorea you have very little beach and lots of lagoon.
The snorkeling is amazing and easy corals roads to navigate. While you're at it, grab a (fancy) breakfast at the Sofitel.

Temae is easy to get to so if you come to Moorea it’s a must visit! This beach is the kind of beach you see in magazines. It’s very big in comparison to the other beaches on Moorea. The water is like a swimming pool but better! You can see the big island of Tahiti just past the reef and watch the waves crash. The water is deeper here- it’s not a stand up and snorkel place and the coral is further out so you need to swim to it to see it. There is a current (medium to strong) - so if you have little kids or people who are not strong swimmers take caution. It’s a fantastic swimming place and we saw several people swimming “lanes” there. The hotel Sofitel shares the beach and you can walk onto the property and see the overwater bungalows. If you need to access to the public bathrooms and showers, go all the way down and park across from the soccer field. If you don’t need to be close the the bathrooms- park along the greenery as soon as the curve in the road ends. You will have to walk up a little path in the grass but this will get you closer to the middle of the beach where the best snorkeling and swimming is. You do need water shoes here! Bring a lunch because there are no food vendors nearby (I suggest stopping at Golden Lake Snack beforehand).

We lived in a bungalow 500 yards from this beach, so we had to drive by it every day, looking for a better beach, but didn't find one.
Yes, the road to the beach is very bumpy, as it rattles your teeth, but you are on the right road. Look for the sign "plage de 'teme".
No concessions there, except when they're having a boeles tournament or they have the school kids there.
It is a protected area, no harvesting coral, except the natives seem always to have someone fishing.
Best snorkeling is to the left of the soccer field, and alway to the right, near the Sofitel. In front of the Sofitel they have a carved Tiki in about 8 feet of water that some coral is growing on.
When windy, there is a group of kite surfers that are fun to watch.
Terribly safe beach and ocean,as it is protected by a coral wall that is out there about 1/2 mile.
Need reef shoes, tennis shoes, sandals because the beach is sandy and large chunks of coral are tough on your feet
