Enjoyed Interbus travel because we met many people from all over the world. Interbus was a safe way to travel.

We have used this method of transport throughout Costa Rica and found it very good on some quite challenging roads, the drivers have prevailed. The only time we were lacking confidence was after twelve hour flight to SAN Jose, the next day we got up...More

Not having a desire to rent a vehicle during a stint in Costa Rica, we arranged Interbus shuttles for transit routes San Jose to La Fortuna, La Fortuna to Manuel Antonio and Manuel Antonio back to San Jose. The bookings went seamlessly and the agent...More

The reviews of Interbus seem very mixed and our experience fell somewhere in between. We travelled one way from San José to Puerto Viejo. Online booking and payment was quick and straightforward. Pick up was arranged at the Balmoral Hotel in San José as this...More

I was a little sceptical and worried about using interbus due to some bad reviews, however I used them twice (San Jose to Monteverde and La Fortuna to San Jose) and they were great. I was picked up early for both of my trips and...More

Upon booking a journey with INTERBUS I was sceptical, as many reviews mention unsafe and frightening driving, but I decided to go ahead anyway as it was the easiest booking process (I cannot fault this) and at first glance better than public transport. Having taken...More

I was staying in Tamarindo for several days and needed to return to San Jose for my flight home. Interview is a more expensive option than the local buses; however, several extra amenities make interbus sound like a good deal. First, the interbus vans are...More

I felt unsafe with the amount of attention the driver gave to his phone. Interbus, please get your drivers blue tooth handsfree units and make them use it when moving .

This is a company with microbuses, that provides shuttles from hotel to hotel between the major places in Costa Rica. Seats are confortable, good air conditioned. It should have wifi for entertainement.

Hi Interbus has set times, try thier website. You may be best getting a hotel and travelling the next day, unless your hotel in Arenal can pick you up? have a great time.

Warning-Do Not Use "The" Costa Rica Shuttle (3 Replies)
I just returned and was scammed out of $90.00 by this company. It is not Costa Rica Shuttle, it has to have the word "The" in front of the title. This guy is just a middleman and uses Interbus and Gray Line for shared shuttles. First part of my shuttle was fine, but he used Gray Line for my other pick-up. When I called to confirm, the guy on the other end told me that The Costa Rica Shuttle owes him $3,000.00 and is not honoring his bookings. We had to rebook using a private driver at the...More

Hotels near Calalu Restaurante for Interbus pickup? (5 Replies)
We will be arriving at the SJO airport late at night so do not need a fancy hotel to stay in, and will be picked up by Interbus at the Calalu restaurante in the morning. Does anyone know of a hotel that is under $100 near the airport/the restaurant? Thanks! Gwen

Take a look at Hotel Los Volcanes. I usually stay here. It's about 7 minutes from the airport and an short taxi ride to Calalu.

Pharmacy or Market near Calalu Restaurante? (5 Replies)
I will be arriving at SJO on 10/15 and will have a couple of hours to wait at the Calalu for my Interbus shuttle. Does anyone know if there is a pharmacy or market within close walking distance of the restaurant where I could pick up some items such as sunscreen, insect repellant, and bottled water? Thanks!

I've waited there for Interbus once and didn't see anything, but I was not really looking! There is probably something nearby! Ask you taxi driver to stop somewhere on the way to Calalu and just wait for you a few moments....
