Took this raft tour while sailing on the Coral Princess on the Panama Canal passage. The ship stopped at the Puntarenas port and bus picked us up at the port, it’s about an hour and 20 minute drive. Our tour leader Christian was excellent, pointing out things long the way. The bus stops at the raft starting point with bathrooms and after a safety review we loaded up. We had 6 people on our raft plus the the guide. It’s just physical enough but not too much, several sets of rapids and you will get wet. The beautiful part is the bund today wild like, monkeys, birds, Iguana and we saw several Crocs. It’s about a 2 hour tour and then the bus drives you back to the starting point (we left all our stuff on the bus) where they served lunch (beef, chicken) and beers were $3. They also have a gift shop.

Rainforest Explorers offers a number of individual and combination tours. The river float appealed to us the most and proved to be a great experience. Even though it was pouring with rain when we were picked up from our hotel, when we arrived at the river half an hour later and the rain had stopped. There were even some breaks in the clouds. By the end of the 2-hour trip it was sunny and warm. We saw loads of wildlife, especially birds. We have never seen so many kingfishers of several species. Also quite a few monkeys, howlers and spider monkeys. The guide was very good. At the end of the float we stopped at a farm for snacks - cassava cake, fresh cheese and plantain. All in all, a very good morning.

We had 14 people in our party from age 3 to 50, and every single one had an amazing time! The three rafts were super clean, and the guides were fantastic. They pointed out LOTS of wildlife including crocodiles, birds, monkeys, and lizards. Mid-ride, they provided us with water and fruit. When we returned to our starting point, our lunches were ready and waiting for us. The food at the restaurant was DELICIOUS!!! Highly recommended!!!

My family went on the white water rafting expedition that we booked through Xplore Costa Rica. I wasn't interested in that adventure so I chose to float down the river instead. I didn't see another person or boat for two solid hours. I felt like I was in the beginning of a disney film. Monkeys swining, crocodiles sneaking in the water, flocks of birds flying on the waterline, otters playing etc. Manuel pointed out all of the wildlife and stopped when I wanted to look and ask questions. They offer a four hour tour which I will most certainly do next time. Also, we took the self driving option and saved about $60.00 a person as we were staying in Tamarindo. We stayed for a traditional costa rican meal in the restaurant which was delicious. The staff was super attentive and gave me many servings of lemonade while I waited for my family to finish their adventure.

We wanted to go on the river trip to bird, the trees were not fully out so it was easy to observe the birds, owls, herons nesting, osprey to name a few - roughly 30 different types of birds, as well as monkeys, iguanas, crocodiles. Our guide was wonderful at making bank also sounds which brought things closer.
