Stopped by this park while walking around downtown San José. It has a lot of history packed in to such a small space. It's well maintained and each part has a specific story - since the entire park was given to Costa Rica as a gift from Spain. There's a cool statue of a Conquistador, but it had some spray... More

If you're walking around barrio amon or barrio otoya you'll run into this park sooner or later. Lots of trees and always cool. It's bordered by the Metal Building, the CASA Amarilla, and a museum (forgot the name). There are also a number of ATMs in the INS bldg across the street.

It is a well-maintained park, donated by Spain to the people of Costa Rica where one can just sit and relax. The main attraction is the statue of Juan Vazques de Coronado, the founder of Cartago.

The traffic surrounds you in this park yet when the Avian come to roost at dusk, they drown out the sounds of the it's for sure. The trees are huge and park is lovely. A statue of Christopher Columbus stands tall donated to the city by descendants of his.

Cool park, especially on Saturday mornings. Don't walk around here at night unless you want to get followed by some shady peeps (speaking from experience).

There are a few nice statues in the park as well as a WORKING fountain. One of the few we have seen around the Caribbean. People watching is good at times and there is a really neat mosaic on the sides of the traffic tunnel next to the park

Nice enough spot to people watch and sip a coffee. Park was busy with locals and tourists alike. Not a lot to see with regards to the flora, fauna or monuments.

A favorite place for me to walk downtown is through the cool shade of Parque España. I wish they would clean up the graffiti, remove the paint on the statues, and protect the porcelain tiles
