There are windows that sell collection stamps that can also be used to mail postcards. The stamp selling windows are open Monday to Friday. The post office is open on Saturday mornings, but they don't sell stamps on Saturday - only price labels that are printed and not very beautiful. Beautiful historic building!!!

Interesting historical building in constant use for 100 + years. Still has many of the old original post office boxes with old Costa Rica emblem.

When you are walking around downtown San Jose stop in and mail a post card. This is a grand old post office building and makes an interesting sightseeing stop.

Neo-classicist building with a touch of art deco from early 20th century. At the time an ultra-modern place with post and telegraph communications provision. These means are now part of the past and I wonder what the future destination of the building will be. No wifi, so probably not something related to modern communication.

Whilst the Spanish have a fairly torrid reputation in Latin America for having stolen all the gold and done little else, they did of course leave a legacy of fine buildings with iconic style and often with a local feel. This is one such building and serves as a commanding structure in the central square. It makes an interesting contrast... More

I'm not sure you would go here unless you are into stamps or require the need of a post office. However, it's well worth going inside and enjoying the architecture.
