Old-world Cathedral

This is a very "open-air" cathedral. Very friendly with impressive architecture. This is where the Pope visits when in Costa Rica.

I am catholic and I love churches but this one is just huge with no charm and the only reason I was happy to be there was to pray and to take a break from the dirty surroundings. I do not recommend to visit it for architectural or art purposes.

It's a nice church but I would expect more from the main church in San Jose. It's really nothing special.

We did not set out to stop in this church, but when we came upon it we entered and gave a small donation. It is beautiful inside and out. Be respectful as a tourist though, the vast majority inside are actually there to worship.

It´s worth going into if you are walking around San Jose; beautiful glass windows, tile floors and architecture.

This church is located right in the center of San Jose. We stumped upon it while walking around San Jose for the day. The church is mostly white and has a very unique architecture to it. It is located directly across the park and only downside, has a lot of beggars and homeless people surrounding it.

I was raised Catholic and am now Evangelical but whenevr I am in a Central American City I check out the Catedral. The Classic Spanish city design always featured a large chuch with a central park accross the street. In San Jose this is a wonderful Church there is no doubt in my mind it is a place where Our... It's a nice church with beautiful stained glass windows. It's walking distance from other attractions, so it's nice to see on a walking tour of San Jose.

Well maintained church and is not too touristy. The setting is very nice that you immediately have the respect when you are close by. Many who walk by will make the Sign of the Cross to show their respect and as a prayer.

Very pretty Colonial church, well kept and pretty. Very similar to all colonial churches in central america. It is very peaceful and quiet, a good place to stop and reflect a bit.
