Plaza de La Cultura is located directly beside Teatro Nacional. It is one of the must see centerpieces of the San José, Costa Rica central area. It is a great place to sit and relax and watch the world pass by in front of you....More

We like to find a spot on one of the benches, buy an ice cream and people watch. You'll see many interesting things- from the Ticos running to get to work or home to the artistic ones who want show off their musical skills, to...More

I guess only very few claim otherwise... but this square is not worth visiting. It's ugly, with lots of cement, very confusing walkways and guardrails, and just nothing to compensate for any of it. Lots of weird folks around the darker corners too.

Good place to take it easy and do a little learning of the local culture. Went on one of our lazy days where we did not fancy anything too frenetic.

This plaza in San Jose is full of people and there are many restaurants surrounding it so it makes for a good place to people watch.

Great place to visit - even if your time is limited. I got some exercise, checked out the local cultures - in the middle of a busy business trip

San Jose is just another large city without charm or a welcome feeling. Very run down streets and buildings. We didn't feel particularly welcome or safe, even during the day

The Plaza is the roof over the Gold Museum, the side yard of the National Theatre (a treasure worth touring) and the edge of a busy walking street. As some reviewers have said, there's not much here, but each time we passed by or through...More

Lots to see all around including the Natoonal Theatre. Great fun to watch the children running in and out of the interactive fountains.

Plaza de la cultura by itself does not have much (or normally anything) to offer. Small with more or less nothing going on. What the plaza does have is a lot of things of interest surrounding it. Museums, Teatro Nacional, Grand Hotel (historic hotel) and...More
