Vacation with my wife.
Feb 2018 • Couples
My wife and I was in San Jose for vacation and we were told that this is a must play golf course and after Playing I fully agree. The course is fairly long, but a good course, especially if you hit the fairways. Greens were very fast and in great shape. Fairways is lined with trees. The only draw back to this course was that some of the bridges were out and you had to crisscross other fairways which could be dangerous. Still a very good course and we really enjoyed playing it.

Difficult but beautiful course in the pretty Cariari district in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Jan 2018 • Couples
This course is long and tough, but we played it on a perfect day, cool and partly cloudy, with an entertaining and helpful caddy. Because we were staying at the Doubletree Hilton Cariari around the corner, we got a deal on visitor green fees and cart. Hilly, with lots of water, trees, flowering shrubbery, sand traps and other landscape features, it is easy to get into trouble, but you don't care, because you are in Costa Rica in January, playing golf on a spectacular course. Lunch on the patio at the club house was delicious and so was the wine.

Deceptively Good Course......But hasn't been called Melia in years.
Jul 2014 • Friends
This course is more difficult than average but a constant pleasure to play. Never Boring, Sometimes very challenging, always fun.

Caddies are required and relatively inexpensive. "A" caddies speak English and know the game and course. "B" caddies are good too, less English.

Somewhat narrow, some greens tough to hold, some beautiful vistas.

Staff is friendly and helpful. Food service is somewhat less than average for a private course.

The noise/music from the nearby club gymnasium is out of control and the golf staff has no impact on it. The general management also is clueless about this and some other elements of customer service.

Yet, as a golf experience, on a dry day, this is superb.

well kept coarse, though pretty pricey. good rental equipment available. most golf in costa rica is high, this is a relatively new development. most coarses are less than 10 years old. this is one of the oldest. no longer private open to the public

A Long Walk

a decent course and I recommend renting a cart. The fairways are long and the greens are usually in good condition.

Great Golf Course

I loved playing at this golf course. I just wish it was closer to where we live. Wonderful layout and good caddies. Not walker friendly, it's a long course.

Cariari Again
Jul 2013 • Friends
Played Cariari Golf Course again in July 2013. Last played in mid 1990's. It is a great golf course with wonderful and tricky holes. Great service by starter and caddy (required when riding cart). I suggest taking a caddy to help read putts and find balls. Lots of beautiful trees, flowers, and birds. Nice restaurant, too.
