I have been a frequent visitor to Costa Rica in the last 30 years as this is my destination vacation of choice. I've been asked why I keep going back instead of elsewhere, it's the people, the smiling, kind, generous, easy going Ticos. Of course, the whole country with it's many eco-systems defines amazing.
Having enjoyed this adventure tour several times over the years, I've noticed the Tico guides let the tourists enjoy each stop at their own pace. They have and do try to remind us that the sun goes down at 6ish and the drive back is through Braulio Carrilo Nat'l Pk. therefore sometimes you have light, sometimes dark. Usually most of us are ready for a nap anyway. I wouldn't continue to take this tour if I didn't get something from it each time listening to the different guides with their wonderful knowledge of the ever changing flora and fauna. . . and the Tico smiles are unforgettable.

A number of us took the "4 in one" tour that packed into one day:
- the Doka coffee plantation
- The Poas volcano
- La Paz waterfall
- Sarapiqui Zipline
- Boat cruise on the Sarapiqui river
The brochure claims that the drive back is through the Braulio Carrilo National Park; while that's true, by the time we were heading back it was dark and we didn't see much.
Pickup at the hotel was prompt and the guide and driver were friendly and helpful. It was an amazing experience, and one I'd recommend to anyone.

Decided to do a last minute tour on the canopy zip line and boat ride. We had a great time. It was the best thing we did in costa rica. Our shuttle/boat guide Jorge was wonderful. The boat and zipline guide Chico and Andy were awesome. I was a little concerned when we first started zipline due to language barrier with Chico and Andy but it all worked out. Our lunch at end of tour was really good and we had plenty to eat. We toured the butterfly house, snake house and frog house. The only thing I wish the hotel would have told us is to bring a change of clothes. The ziplines get clothes very dirty. Be sure you wear clothes that you do not care if they get stained.

Not really sure what to rate my tour. We took the Sarapiqui River Sightseeing Cruise & Zipline Canopy Tour from San Jose. Van ride nice. Our guide Jorge pointed out a couple of things along the way but seemed more interested in talking Spanish to a young lady. Boat ride was interesting, we saw crocodiles, howler monkeys and a large iguana. When we got to the Zip-line we were informed that we didn't have a choice in whether we walked or rode a horse. That was in the web site. Harnessed up we then went to zip line. To get to the platform we had to climb up a very tall ladder. We were then told that the second was even taller. I am 71 and made it up the first one just barely, so I knew that I would never make the second one. The gentlemen at the platforms were so nice and understanding and sent for horses to send myself and daughter back to where we were to have lunch. Lunch was good and tasty. Our guide was asleep, but then told us to hurry up and eat. On the way back in the van, he told my daughter and I to "Go to sleep and not bother the driver"! We had not spoken to the driver all day. Maybe, this was an off day for the guide, or for us, but its not a tour I would recommend.

We did the Canopy Tour and Safari Boat Adventure. The brochure states the following:
- 2 hour boar ride, lunch, visit to sanctuary, butterfly garden and snake collection, and we were told the trip would be about 1.5 hours there.
This was reality: It took 3.5 hours on the bus in the morning, before we got off. We were suppose do take a "boat ride" for part of this trip, but because the boat motor was broken, and they didn't get another boat, back on the bus.

During this time we weren't given any food. When I asked about food, I was told 'lunch' was after the canopy tour. We did receive some fruit at the 1st stop, which was around 12:30 (2.5 hours after pickup). We didn't eat "lunch" til after 3pm. In my world this is no longer something that is considered lunch. Maybe they should call it a late afternoon meal. When we did get it, it was fantastic. But at that point I also would have eaten frog poop.

The canopy - well it was good, except there are a lot of tall ladders to climb. the guides are good, and make sure everyone is taken care of and safe. They did say that we couldn't bring cameras and that they would take pictures we could purchase later. Good thing I never listen (my camera goes everywhere), because there were no photos taken by the tour. So no one else had any pictures from the ziplines. I offered up my email address so people could get any pictures I had taken afterwards.

The frog sanctuary had only 2 red tree frogs, and no others as apparently they had "escaped" (good for them). The butterfly garden has a few butterflies, but most were dead on the ground, and the larva was all dried and dead. The snake collection had quite a few.

The guide was very unfriendly, and did not keep us well informed about what was happening. He was constantly on the phone, and not very personable. When I did ask if there was someplace we could stop and buy food, he said no, but did offer up a rice krispies square to me.

All in all, I'm sure there are far better tours out there. Can't really speak for the river cruise, as we didn't really get one.... when we did go, the guide was more interested in his phone, then pointing out wildlife. When I spotted a toucan in a tree, and requested we stop to take pictures, I was ignored. We didn't stop. We stopped a couple times for monkeys, but they were only on one side of the boat. When we saw some on the other side, again I was ignored for my request to stop. We saw a sloth very far way in the trees, along with some bats we did stop for.

Also on the drive there they pass by La Paz Waterfalls, but don't stop to let you get out and take pictures. Would the 15 minutes really kill you to stop?

Poas Volcano National Park, Doka Estate coffee mill and plantation, and La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Also breakfast and lunch were included. La Paz Waterfalls gardens also included animal refugee camp, which impressed me the most. Tucan and Macaw birds were the stars of the show. Also have seen poisonous red and green frogs ( do not touch them ).
Butterfly observatory, humming birds completed the show. Duration: 8 hrs. approx.

We booked this trip based on the other reviews, with this said, it is hard to believe that we went on the same trip. We did the boat tour and zipline. We booked through Viator, when we called to see what time we would be picked up, they refused to pick us up at our hotel so we had to spend an additional $36.00 to take a taxi to a spot where they would pick us up. We drove over three hours to get to the river, in that time the guide talked to us for a total of five minutes. The river is very wide and murky, so you are not close to the banks of the river. We saw a few monkeys very high up in the trees and a total of four crocodiles. I understand that the company is not responsible for the wildlife you see, but this is not a river that is teeming with wildlife. Again there was minimal interaction with the guide. The zipline was fine, but the two guides were not very friendly and spoke very little to us. We finally ate lunch at 3:00pm, which was the highlight of the trip. The guide did not talk at all on the way back, but to tell me he would not drive us back to our hotel and then made a rather big deal of having to dial the hotel for me so I could get a taxi. He did find his voice at the end of the trip because he asked for a tip several times for himself and the driver. This ended up being an 11 hour trip, with about 7 hours of driving. The other negative reviews are accurate! If you love to drive around in a van, then this would be the trip for you. This was really a road trip from hell, I am sure there are better trips to book and I would highly advise you do so.

I was surprised by my travel companion with this tour and what a wonderful surprise it was. We got a very timely van and driver in the morning, with our guide Carlos, and set out for a Canopy Tour and boat ride. Carlos was knowledgeable and addressed the group in English and Spanish. We took a boat ride on the Sarapiqui river and saw some wildlife and took photos.

But the highlight was when we got to the reserve, got suited up, and went zip lining. I've never even thought of doing this before and was a little nervous; but we got great direction and safety information, again in 2 languages, and started out on the "small slope" and then climbed to higher and higher heights for more thrills and beautiful vistas. It was breathtakking, exhiliarating, and great exercise.

We were told not to take our cameras along, so I left mine in a locked locker, but I did take along my iPhone and got some photos and videos of my friend. Thank goodness I did, because the DVD we bought for 20 bucks had NO video and the photos weren't half as good as those on from my iPhone.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a little fun and adventure through the rain forest. OH! The lunch was delicous also.

We used them to have several adventures and were extremely pleased with the service AND the guides on each adventure. We did the Jaco Canopy Zipline the day after we arrived and it was the scariest thing I have EVER done and is now OFF my bucket list, but I would recommend it to anyone. The guides we had were really great, especially when I decided at the 3rd platform that I wanted down NOW because the fear was more than I could manage. I am glad that I did continue on. The last guide took his time with me and did NOT let me go sooner than I was ready, and I really appreciated that. There was a 9 year old girl that did the first 2 ziplines with no problem, but then became so afraid that the guide took her with him and she did just fine then.

The next day we did the ATV Tour from their office in Jaco. I decided that it would be better to drive the Yamaha Rhino 4 wheel vehicle than the ATV and I am so glad I did! It was so much fun driving up, down, and around the mountains. We had lunch at a tilapia farm where they serve fresh tilapia with vegetables. Then we continued on where we also stopped at a waterfall with small reservoir of water. The view at various places was absolutely breathtaking!

The next day was the Calypso Tortuga Catamaran Tour where we were picked up at our hotel and transported to the restaurant where we were served a fresh made breakfast with 3 men who placed native instruments while we ate. The boat trip took us to the beach at Tortuga Island where we deboarded and then were taken out by a smaller boat to the location where we went snorkeling for about an hour. When we returned, a fresh lunch was served buffet style. There were trees that had a couple of Red Macaws, or parrots that had been rescued that people talked to or gave native almonds to. These birds can fly off IF they want to, but choose to stay right there at their tree that has food and water for them. After that there was a banana boat ride before returning home.

The next day we did the Waterfall Horseback Tour and the sweetest horses, who also had been rescued and retrained to take us out in the jungle to a waterfall where we had volcanic ash w/water put on us before we washed it off in the wonderfully fresh water from the waterfall that we stopped at. We rested a bit and had some fresh pineapple and watermelon before continuing on where the guide pointed out Toucans, Red Macaws, and even the gorgeous Blue Butterfly that is native to Costa Rica. Absolutely wonderful!

And lastly we did the Savegre Whitewater Rafting Class III. These guys like the other guides.... get paid for having FUN. At the still areas of water, one guide climbed up high and did a back flip off into the river. Other times, our guide got out and obtained a fresh root asking us IF we knew what it was, which was fresh ginger root, or a teak leave, etc. We stopped at a waterfall along the way and again had fresh pineapple, watermelon, grapes, and fruit juice or water. It was FABULOUS!

Jennifer Taylor was our representative in the US that helped us with recommendations and scheduling of the adventures.

And if I get to go back again to Costa Rica... you can be sure I will use them again!!!

First I would like to say that 1 week in Costa Rica is not enough, make sure that when you are choosing your hotel what location you want to stay because the day trips are long, lastly we used Costa Rica Fun Adventures and the team were awesome, Jorge and Minor were so awesome, informative when asked questions, took care of us like we were family, if and when you go to Costa Rica ask for Jorge he speaks pretty good English and Spanish and he gets bored when you don't ask questions, he loves to talk about his country, all in all we had so much fun "pura vida"
