We just finished the art, sightseeing & food tour with Carla. She is a most charming, and knowledgeable guide. The 3 hours flew by as we experienced the history, street scenes and tucked away hidden art treasures inside & al fresco. We would surely have missed all these sites if we were on our own. Carla's own experiences made everything... More

My group scheduled a walking tour with Barrio Birds that included food stops and some sightseeing. Our guide, Carla, was fantastic and answered many of our questions. She showed us some local food favorites and described many aspects of the Costa Rican culture. I would heavily recommend this tour to anyone that wants an insider view of Costa Rica.

We did a sightseeing and food tour with Carla and would highly recommend it. The tour group was only four people, and Carla focused the tour on our interests- great coffee, street art and political landmarks. We went to a farmers' market that we would have never found on our own. Carla even recommended certain stalls and ordered us some... More

I had an amazing time with Carla as our tour guide. She was funny, informative, well spoken and lively. I seriously did not expect to have such an amazing experience. Great part of our trip.

We took the combination tour of art and food with our teenage daughters. Our guide was very knowledgeable , friendly no fun and you could tell she really enjoyed providing information about her country and its history. It covered a large area of San Jose's core and was a very nice pace to walk. We had lots of time to... More

We had a 3 hour walking and food tour with Mari on Dec. 23rd. Mari was a great guide - giving us so much background on San Jose and Costa Rica in general. The walk was fun - especially the Central Market. We sampled delicious food. I would highly recommend this walking tour to get you introduced to San Jose.

Just did a 2 hour city tour with Mari from Barrio Bird. We were able to contact the company the day before and meet with Mari on a Sunday morning--unbelievably accommodating! Mari had loads of history and current cultural insights to share. Exactly what we were looking for.

We are so glad we spent a day in San Jose before heading to the beach. It was the best way to get to know the Costa Rican culture. Our guide Carla gave a terrific "combo" tour of culture, art, architecture and food. We had kids from ages 13-18 and they loved it. Worth every penny and we would definitely... More

Our guide or should I say friend was Mariangela. We met as planned in the park as strangers but after or time together it was like having an old friend show us where they lived. We walked about the city and learned about what is here right now but what was in the past that was transformed. She lead us... More

My husband and I recently did the Barrio BIrd Tour (food and city) with Carla in San Jose, Costa Rica. It was a well curated 3 hour tour with Carla. She imparted some great knowledge on San Jose architecture, public artworks, graffiti art, history, and food. Every guide book on Costa Rica usually tells visitors to skip over San Jose... More
