About
I am offering tours for people with mobility challenges. You may just need to take it slow. I offer off the beaten path tours. But I am now walking with crutches due to RA. If you find it hard to get around we can cheat with Ubers, rest when needed. Get to explore the areas the locals enjoy and be free to go with the flow. Food markets, historic buildings, and just overall interesting spots. Allow me to share the San Jose I love. No group is too small. I can meet you at your hotel or you can meet me at my place for coffee in Chinatown . I do not go into details of history. Dates, names of famous historic figures. If this is what you are looking for, I am not your guy. I want you to visit locations with me for the experience. Getting to know the barrios and customs with some interesting trivia and not so touristy pursuits. Enjoy the people , the sites and pet some cats. Smell some flowers. Share my love of this city. Wheelchairs are not recommended. I'm not equipped nor is the city.

Scott was a great guide with his friendly and laid back personality. He showed us parts of San Jose we would never had found otherwise and told us stories about Costa Rican life as we went along. He was great with our two children and adapted the tour for our daughter as she'd injured her ankle so couldn't walk for miles. He took us to a fantastic cafe for a late lunch and we got an impromptu cacao demonstration there. Great afternoon!

Scott was an amazing tour guide. He gave us a truly unique perspective of what it's like to live in San Jose as an expat, while being extremely knowledgeable about his city as a local.

He's also incredibly charming and made us feel welcome. My husband had some difficulty walking at the time, and Scott was kind enough to personalize his tour to go at a comfortable pace.

Thanks Scott! Pura vida!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour! I don’t have mobility issues myself but I really loved the slower pace of this tour. Scott walks on crutches and it gives you a chance to notice little details and all kinds of cool stuff that you wouldn’t see if you were just rushing through from attraction A to attraction B, you really get a feel for the neighborhood and you get to observe day-to-day San Jose life going by. Scott is also an artist and a photographer and pointed out lots of cool photo opportunities along the way. Loved his insights into the city, since he’s been living there for such a long time he had so many cool things to show us and lots of interesting stories to tell. I felt like I was visiting a friend who was showing me around their city. Highly recommended, I would love to go back and explore some other neighborhoods with him!

This is an experience we enjoy every time we come to San Jose! Fantastic to have an option for mobility challenged family members but honestly this experience is fun for anyone. Loved getting to know Scott and getting an insider’s perspective on what it’s like to live in San Jose. We have explored different neighborhoods with Scott, always something unique and interesting to see. It’s nice to slow down and soak in the city, Scott also walks on crutches so he understands if you might need to stop and rest for a while. I definitely recommend this experience 100%!

I just did the photo tour with Scott. Not only is he very knowledgeable about the area, he is also a professional photographer that has a way of simplifying the art for beginners such as myself in a way that is understandable but also immediately improves your skills so you can use them immediately to capture better pictures. He is also a great guy with many compelling stories and is passionate about photography and San Jose in general. I highly recommend this tour to anyone considering it, you won't be disappointed.

I was fortunate to have a one on one session with Scott. When I arrived we had a cup of coffee and had a great time getting to know each other. We then headed out into several neighborhoods with Scott pointing out some nice photo opportunities. It was a nice walk and I have some nice photos from the tour. I’ve been on many activities when in Costa Rica but for me this was the best and I feel like I made a new friend in Scott. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Very informative and interesting! Scott’s full of interesting stories and is really good at helping you find the real San Jose, not just the tourist spots. Do this!

Scott walked with us around some very nice and fancy neighborhood in San José. The center of the town is definitely the less interesting. So if you have 2-3 hours to spend, don’t hesitate! Scott is definitely worth it!

Scott took us to the places we would want to see. He included history of the area and was obviously connected to his home turf. We recommend anyone that wants to do a walking tour take it with Scott.

We were super excited about this tour because of the reviews but we were incredibly disappointed by Scott's lack of knowledge about both San Jose and Costa Rica. Basically, the guide would take us to a square/attraction, point to it, and say “this is X.” When we explained to Scott that we’d like to hear the narrative and history of San Jose, he laughed or shrugged it off. When we asked about any historically relevant question, Scott noted that he doesn’t know “that stuff.”

The tour was so bad that we stopped it midway. Later, Scott messaged us to let us know that he will not let us “get to him” and was very defensive about his own lack of knowledge. He told us that we were too picky about history when our questions ranged from when the earthquakes took place in the country to why a monument (that we were taken to by the guide) was put in place there.

As a group who has been on dozens of walking tours, this was by far the worst. A tour guide should do research before taking tourists around, especially if they are charging them 25 USD per person. Anyone can stand and point to a building, simply noting that it’s there.

We recommend looking elsewhere if you want your money’s worth.

I have learned from this experience. 1)- make sure we meet in the city center where the tour takes place. Meeting in San Pedro and trying to get as quick as possible to San Jose before it became dark was a bad decision. 2) Mornings are the best time. I don't recommend downtown after dark. 3) I will recommend people do not book a tour immediately after a after a long flight. Not in late afternoon and please understand my tour is about San Jose and if we would have entered San José I would have had much more information about the amazing buildings and Barrios. This was a very unfortunate situation and I have learned a valuable lesson. I do feel bad that they missed the opportunity to see the best of San Jose.
