Rios Tropicales is an eco-adventure company that operates throughout Costa Rica. We offer adventure activities that take advantage of Costa Rica’s unique variety of environments: whitewater rafting, multisport activities that feature kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and cycling, family adventures, cultural encounters, nature and wildlife tours, and “volun-tourism”. Our mission, to share the rivers, natural resources and culture of Costa Rica while sharing conservation values, has not changed since we began in 1985. Rios Tropicales was established by native Central Americans, El Salvadorian Rafael Gallo and Costa Rican Fernando Esquivel, whose deep connection with the region and culture are apparent in every aspect of the company.

This river trip has got to be one of the best 1 day rafting trips in the world! I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with Rios Tropicales. We had a private shuttle for our group of 8 from a hotel in San Jose. If you have a decent size group I would highly recommend this. Our guide... More

We used Rios Tropicales a couple weeks ago for white water rafting and the experience was nothing short of incredible! For only $99/person we were picked up at our hotel in San Jose (and they were there exactly when they said they would be), they provided us with breakfast which consisted of the best omelette I've ever had!!, we were... We selected Rio Tropicales as the rafting company to use when rafting the Rio Pacuarre river while in Costa Rica because of other reviews. We were thrilled as the rafting company picked us up from our hotel, took us to breakfast at their remote site, complete with "blue jean dart frogs" and then back to the same site for a... More

Our family went on an overnight raft trip on the Pacuare River with Rios Tropicales. Mr. Tico Travel Company selected it for us. It was a mind-blowingly beautiful river with waterfalls, stunning wildlife, great food and wonderful guides. We stayed in the Rios Tropicales lodge, a few miles into the raft trip and continued through the rapids to finish the... More

We were incredibly impressed with the professionalism of the entire staff involved with Rios Tropicales. It was one of the highlights of our entire Costa Rican trip! We went with our three teenagers and it was a tremendous bonding experience for them to have to work as a team on our boat. Our lovely guide kept saying, "come on boys,... More

Our airbnb host arranged this for us at a discounted price. She also arranged for us to be collected from her home in the Arenal and dropped off at Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean which was great. The Parquare river is stunningly beautiful. The rapids gradually increase from 1 to 4. Our trip down the river started out really fun,... More

We enjoyed our raft down the river immensely. The staff is amazing! Our guide Sebastian was experienced, well informed, and fun. He kept us in the right place at the right time. The only thing better would be that it lasted longer! The lunch afterwards was delicious and plentiful..

I agree with most of the positive reviews posted. Because we travelled during peek season, we were only able to stay one night instead of two because the lodge was fully booked. Positives: The river was absolutely gorgeous as pictured. We went on January 5-6, the water level was on the low side but still plenty of fun. Our guide,... More

Thanks a lot for your review, we appreciatte your constructive coments, we do need to do something with the location of cabins 7 -8 as they are the furthest from the river. This was a great family adventure. We were able to do some white water rafting, swimming and seeing all the pretty landscapes: waterfalls, birds, canyon. Very nice staff and safe. Would go again in a heart beat. The lunch after was large and very tasty and home made. Nice changing facilities - tho the showers were cold- but you're hot... More

We had an absolute blast the pacuare River with Rios and the team. The team worked through some logistical challenges in the morning and was very transparent with the group the whole time.
