Enjoy the theater..

One of our unique and special places of Costa Rica.. One of the few older buildings in the city, it is part of the history of culture of the country.

If you happen to be in San Jose Downtown, go and visit the Theater Melico Salazar, before known as the Raventos Theater. It is a very nice architecture and in very good conditions. There are very nice presentations!

This theater is one of the very old jewels of the City. It burned down and reconstructed to it's original beauty. It is certainly not as rich as the National Theather, but since it belongs to the Government, usually tickets to the various presentations are very well priced and available. If you have a chance to attend any of the... More

It is another piece of history like the National Theater, this one represents the desire of the poor population for culture so it is not as high class as the first one, but it is a nice place to visit.

Carmen presented with nice sets and singers. The original was designed by a Garnier from Costa Rica. I don't know if he was related to the one that designed the Paris Opera Garnier

Nice vintage theater in the middle of San José. Best known for hosting Orquesta Filarmónica, which offers some of the greatest concerts you can find on Costa Rica.

We went here to watch the philharmonic Orchestra. We had a great time and tickets cost almost nothing. Very nice way to spend some quality time. The only thing, the place and stage need some Tender Loving Care.

This place in the beggining was a private theater but in the ´60s it was on fire, after that the goverment bought and rebuilt it. Is a very nice place, has a privilegiated acoustic natural sound. A lot of companies come there to play every kind of art.

Popular theater, where performances presented are usually for everybody...(Not connoisseurs d'art). It is an old theater, which has gone from movie theater to a gounvernment -owned theater. It is larger than the National Theater, but very simple. It has many stories, and you will have to climb long stairwells for the higher stories. The acoustic is fairly good, and it... More
